Fall Toronto Expo - Does It Happen?

Update posted on the Expo website!

We are actively planning the November Expo but are waiting on approval from the provincial government to host a show. We will provide updates as soon as possible – thanks for your patience!

I've seen videos of the National in Chicago. And they don't wear masks. So I think we are good. But, if this Fall expo is cancelled again, there should be no reason the Spring expo doesn't happen.

Checkout the video on YouTube of the guy caught stealing at the National in Chicago. I put in “ guy caught stealing at National Chicago 2021” watch the cops haul him away in handcuffs at the end. What a idiot

Wow!!!

The owner of the Toronto Expo went OFF on Facebook. Here it is:

We are all super excited for a return to a live Expo and yet I am struggling to get reasonable capacity approvals from the FORD government despite commitments to observe any/all covid protocols. So when I see these absurd exemptions for - of all things, strip clubs and bath houses - it makes my blood boil!?!
This is ACTUALLY included in the phase 3 guidelines and is an excerpt directly from the Provincial “Order in Council”:

"(3) Section 3 .1 ( 4) of Schedule 1 continues to apply to patrons of the bathhouse or sex club, except when physical distancing cannot be maintained while participating in the activities for which patrons normally frequent such an establishment. ( 4) Patrons of the establishment must wear a mask or face covering in a manner that covers their mouth, nose and chin during any period in which they come within two metres of another person, except, ( a) when masks or face coverings cannot be worn while participating in the activities for which patrons normally frequent such an establishment, or..."

SERIOUSLY?!?! They legislated exceptions for that?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

Interesting to see that in this Provincial Order, Strip Clubs and Bathouses appear before “Schools and Private Schools” – that’s a pretty good indication of the current government's priorities and the strength of the relative lobby groups.

…and yet I can’t run a regular card show… What do you think about this??😡

I'd imagine that any establishment such as those still require the employees to present negative covid tests before working, and probably do contact tracing and limited capacity for patrons.

When this guy is asking for "reasonable" capacity approvals, what number is he looking for? While I still find it crazy how many people are allowed to be jammed into a Costco together, I don't find it unreasonable that the government might not want to have 1000 people hovering over each other for a "non-essential" event.

Wasn't that the "Landing strip" Glenn?

No matter how many they would be allowed to enter ,do you think the guys that normally refuse to wash their hands after the bathroom are going to be concerned about having their mask up.....

My hope is attending in the spring

There seems to be a reasonable solution...

STRIPPERS at the Expo!!!!!!!

if you can`t beat `em then join `em

One of the times I went to the expo this good looking girl came up to me while walking back to my car. She started some small talk, and about what was going on inside. Then she ships out a discount card for the strip club she works at. I knew it was too good to be true haha.

That is too bad if there is no Expo this Fall. Need to start reducing my collection. Losing interest due to the lack of Shows to meet up with fellow collectors. Cost of shipping and selling fees are making it harder to enjoy the hobby.

Here's an excerpt from an e-mail I received this week from the promoter of the Ottawa Walkley Arena Show regarding capacity ......

" Regarding conventions, the City of Ottawa is using a formula of 70 square feet per person so using this example for a convention*room like the one we use at the Walkley Arena, which is 3500 square feet, that means maximum capacity is 50 people at ay given time.

Between dealers and their helpers, we would already be close*to 40 or 50 people so it is hard for me to see where there is an economically viable business*model until there are more people allowed in the room which should happen in the next stage of opening in Ontario. "

It is getting difficult. And this week we learned that the Montreal shows will likely be limited to only those who have a valid Quebec Vaccine Passport.
