Would a UD version of 'Between the Pipes work?

That would be cool to see, imagine a quad auto of the team's starting, backup, taxi squad, AHL goaltenders.

I get ppl in here wanting only goalie cards, I feel having a few skaters in there would be cool. UD should just guarantee 1 GU/ 1 auto per box (of a goalie) and short print the skaters or make it a dual with a tender

I remember UD saying the NHL sends them the jerseys they want them to use and UD doesnt have control over whose jersey they get to put in a product

That last point: It's one thing I loved about some of the later ITG releases (and to some extent, current Leaf ones). You'd see autographs & game used cards from guys who never had autographs or game used before. I can't see UD ever following that model.

This was maybe my favorite thing about ITG as well, and now that I see the responses, I think I would be disappointed (but ultimately buy a bunch) with UD's version of a BTP set today.

Still my favourite goalie auto....

As others have mentioned, I think a goalie focused or goalie-only set would be cool if it followed something similar to the BTP format, vs. the current UD rookie heavy formats.

There would certainly be a demand if done correctly, but as others have noted, I have little faith that UD would put in the extra effort to do so.
The vintage content could really be fantastic since they could use action shots instead of the heads that ITG had to make due with.
Since UD also has the AHL license, an insert set similar to ITG's old Deep in the Crease would be very cool.
I'd also throw out the idea of including some of the well known goalie coaches in a product like this.
The longer the market goes without, the more demand there will be for a goalie only product when we do get one again.

You could call it "From Crease to Coach", and highlight goalies who have gone on to be coaches with a split landscape card of them playing on the left and coaching on the right.

I would love it but I have a feeling that I would be very disappointed with it. A box of BTP was around $100 give or take. Two autos and two game used cards with many of those as patches. Many boxes had a 5th and some even a 6th hit. Will UD use game used jerseys or would they use photo shoot jerseys? If UD was to use game used jerseys would they then have to go and buy those jerseys or do they have some sitting at an UD warehouse? If they need to buy those jerseys the cost of that would be reflected in the product price. The Canadian to USD was closer to at par then which equates to about $125 Canadian a box now. Do you really feel as if UD could create a similar product with four plus hits and then all of the cool parallels for $125 Canadian a box?

Also look at how good Heroes and Prospects was and compare it to what UD has done with the CHL license. ITG did much better of a job.

THIS.

I busted LORD ONLY KNOWS how many cases of BTP. That was a complete classic and a money maker to boot. Gloves, pads, patches and autos. There is NO WAY that Upper Deck can follow that up. Yeah put out a goalie set and yeah have jerseys and autos, but with BTP being the comparative, no chance. It’ll be wildly disappointing.

Gotta agree there.

Someone in an earlier comment remarked at how 2013-14 BTP would sit on a store's shelf compared to if something from Upper Deck were out. That and 2010-11 were definitely the black sheep that absolutely sat on shelves because they were notoriously underdelivering on average, but the licensed era BTP products from 2001-02, or 2002-03 are still amazing, sought after, and relatively tough to find and definitely don't sit on shelves.

Then there is 2009-10, the most loaded BTP year in history where they went crazy with their hits and if you do find a box, the prices reflect that. Let's not forget 2011-12, or 2008-09, or the 2005-06 BTP Super box as other notable BTP sets of ITG's that also don't pop up with frequency because of their quality. Or Leaf Masked Men's two years of products which are next to impossible to find boxes of nowadays and if you do, you are paying good $$$ for them. Talking about it makes me want to open all of them again...

Leaf, I think would do the best job with a new edition of it given their memorabilia on hand...but please make it accessible in Canada. Paying an extra 40-50% to have it imported takes away the fun of going into the shop and picking it out myself.
