Pretty solid class overall, not much to argue here. Of course, you can not please everyone. But it will be interesting to see who gets in next year with a weaker class of new candidates beyond Lundqvist.

As a Wings fan I have to ask why Sedins and not Zetterberg.
Pretty similar stats, played 2 less years, more playoff success, and a Cup + a Conn Smyth Trophy Winner?

More Points per Game, way more playoff stats?

I was hoping Cujo would get the call one of these years but that’s a dream! I’m shocked Mogilny still isn’t in, I would take him over 3 of the 4 this year.

100% agreement Here, zetta was my favourite too!

Z needs to be there. Also Datsyuk is the sickest player ever.

All the above are deserved, I agree with Mogilny, Roenick and Fleury being there as well.

There is a lot of lobbying behind the scenes for the candidates. There was an article about it last year or the year before…pretty interesting as is like anything else with voting, candidates for HOF’s, Oscars, Grammy’s (and Canadian equivalent), they all have people pushing for their hopefuls to become the “one’s that make it”.

Pretty great group, and pretty surreal as these are mostly players that started after I started collecting. Cujo should be in, great goalie in a hard era to play in and win, Zetterberg, yeah, another case, as well as Molgilny, as both should be in by now. It is like asking how many great players didn’t get awards because someone was slightly better than them that year? Overall, they had great solid careers, consistent and near the top, every year, longer careers than many that won. Who did Jim Carey beat out for the Vezina that year he won? Osgood & Puppa. Osgood was fantastic that year and that was the closest to winning a Vezina he had. He won 401 games, and 3 Stanley Cups, but no Vezina, because Jim Carey, who was out of the league 3 years later was a 71 game workhorse for Washington that year. Probably contributed to his shorted career.

Regardless of who didn't get in, this is a great class and well-deserved.

Osgood is an interesting case.
So much is said that he played for a dominant team in his era and they are the reason he got all the wins.....
But then he goes to an Islander team that had missed the playoffs and takes them back again. How many goalies played for great teams???

Cujo - played for mediocre teams for the bulk of his career, has a ton of wins but a ton of losses with bad teams. And yet they state the lack of a Cup for his omission.

It seems that there is a lot of waffling

Solid players but not many cups in this years class. I know cups aren’t a requirement but usually there are some in the class.
