How is it possible that a 2020-21 hasn't been released prior to a 2022-23 release?

Obviously Covid being a reason (or is it?) why it's two seasons now, but this has been an issue prior to Covid where The Cup has been delayed long into the "current" season.

I hope PJ has an answer but I’m thinking they double rookied it this year to have last years crop as well as this years crop? I’d say they would be

No it's just a 2020-21 product, so that's the only rookie crop here. (Laffy, Kaprizov, Stutzle, JRob, etc.)

Well, this product will release at some point anyway, so I don't think there's that big rush for this anyway. As people have been able to wait for an eternity for this, I don't think a few extra months really matters for that. At least it guarantees there won't be a single redemption card, right Upper Deck?

I love how someone sitting in their bedroom, with zero knowledge of how putting products like this together works, has such a strong opinion. Do you honestly think UD purposely delays products? Or doesn't try hard to avoid redemptions? Man, some people are funny when it comes to cardboard with pictures on them.
