SP Game Used QC & Damaged Cards

I would say this is an error on the back of the card, it is not supposed to be autographed from what I can see on the checklist.

Pretty sure we have seen this happen before.

That’s an interesting issue, if it says you were supposed to get an autographed card, does UD need to provide the person with an autographed card?

If the checklist shows it as a non-autographed card, then no? I don't see any reason why they'd have to
 
His patch is /25, and his auto patch is /10. Most likely an incorrect back to the card.

Why would the checklist take precedence over what the actual card physically says? All kinds of cards don't get made that are in the checklist. If I pull a card that says it's supposed to be an autograph the my expectation is that I receive a card that is autographed. I could care less what it says on the checklist. They certainly don't give back refunds when they don't make a card that was put out on the checklist. It's a mistake by Upper Deck and they should fix the mistake or at least make the situation right.
 
saw a kucherov supreme patch /15 that was either black/orange or blue/orange around the gp sports cards live case break from wed. Was around the 2 hour 37 min mark

Maybe its from his AS game jersey

Mistakes happen all the time. The card itself is NOT an auto. The back is the error. Honestly, people need to get over themselves. I could understand if the card you pull is supposed to have an autograph but this isn't the case. The printing company made an error. UD had 2 choices. Either keep the cards in the packs as is or pull the entire rookie patch set. They made the right choice.

Ok, fixing the mistake would mean the customer sends the card in and Upper Deck replaces the card back with the proper wording. Would that make you happy in this scenario?

Because if not, then it's just whining for the sake of whining.

Fixing the mistake would have been noticing there was a problem with the card before you packed it out into products. What is the purpose of quality control?

If you go to a grocery store and they put the incorrect price on something, they are required to honor the lower price. If you open a card that says it's supposed to be autographed it should be autographed. If it's not you should be compensated for it. Not well the printers made a mistake. Put a redemption and fix the problem if required before you pack it out. It's called quality control for a reason and it's clear Upper Deck either has none or simply doesn't care. As someone who has pulled a card that was actually supposed to be autographed and wasn't and Upper Deck couldn't care less about it.

Good point, the lack of the auto is not the error, the wording on the back of the card is.
 
They switched the front of the card but did not switch the back of the card when moving to the production changed and QC did not even notice it. They were produced this way.

So if this non-auto'd card is /25 that means all 25 copies should have no auto but say there is an auto on the back. Only the /10 Auto cards should say this on the back, which means all 35 Patch Cards will say this on the back... unless they switched the /10 Auto'd-Version-Backs to just say it is Game Used and not auto'd. QC messed up at least twice on this one.

Yes, the grocery store honors the price. They don't give you a bunch of significantly more expensive items for free.

The difference in value between the patch card and an auto/patch card is substantial. Your comparison makes no sense.

The value is a sticker. It would be very easy for Upper Deck to rectify the situation and put a sticker auto on the card. People who got the card can mail it in and they will put a sticker on it. Problem solved. Yes it will cost Upper Deck some money but it should for it being their mistake.

What if you bought a lotto scratcher fron a convenience store and won a million dollar prize? You go to redeem it and they say whoops sorry that was a mistake it was supposed to be a please try again and there isn't actually a million dollar prize. But thanks for playing!

If you pull a card that says congratulations you pulled an auto of player x then you should be entitled to that or equal compensation.
 
I agree, if the card says it’s autos it should be. Don’t know why there are so many people giving Ud a pass on this!

As stated above, if the card is to be "fixed", it would be the back being replaced, not the auto being added. People just want to find ways to get free stuff these days. The card was NEVER meant to have an autograph.

Agreed. The error is not the missing auto but the wrong back got printed on the card.
 
I wouldn’t be surprised if UD QC did catch this and decided that rather than pull the card, they went with the error back. And that’s the point here - it’s an uncorrected error card.

I’m giving UD a pass because it’s a mistake and the person got what they were supposed to! The checklist DOES take precedence here - you can see that this subset wasn’t supposed to be autographed.

I wouldn’t be surprised if UD tries to do something, but they aren’t going to send out a sticker of his auto for people to self apply.
