Giuseffi has a new player to collect!

Good luck with your new player Mikey. I doubt this trade will bring them any closer to making the playoffs ;)

The Los Angeles Kings have traded centre Sean Avery and junior prospect John Seymour to the New York Rangers for right winger Jason Ward along with prospects Marc-Andre Cliche and Jan Marek.

Avery, 26, has established a reputation as a contentious player with controversial statements and a league penalty minute crown part of his package.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound pivot has toned down his act this season and is on pace for his most productive season. Through 55 games, Avery has 10 goals, 28 points, 116 penalty minutes and is minus-10.

Last season, Avery scored 39 points and led the NHL with 257 penalty minutes. He will be a restricted free agent this summer.

Ward, 27, is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound checking winger, who has 10 points in 46 games with the Rangers this season.

Cliche, who played for Canada's gold medal-winning entry at the World Junior Hockey Tournament was a second-round pick of the Rangers in 2005. Playing for Lewiston of the QMJHL, he has 36 points in 35 games this season.

Marek is a 27 year-old forward who is the leading scorer, with 43 points in 42 games, for Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Russian Super League.

Seymour was drafted in the 7th-round by Los Angeles in 2005 and has six points and 29 penalty minutes in 34 games with the Brampton Battalion of the OHL.

Mike, as much as people hate him, you will LOVE him on your team, he's one of those guys. The guy is actually a pretty decent player.

But hey, thanks for the prospects.;) I'm sure Lombardi fleeced Sather like everyone else he deals with (see Jack Johnson!) :D

Cliche is an excellent prospect. Not going to be a huge scorer but he can do everything well. Avery is a better player than people give him credit. As an Isles fan I wish he wasn't going to the Rangers.

I am very happy about this, we dump ward who isn't exactly a bolt of lightning. We get back a scrappy player who has more skill if you ask me. I haven't watched him much and he tends to annoy people which is exactly what we need. I am just so happy they picked someone up that can help stop the clubbing of jagr/straka/nylander because teams just love it when shanny takes a penalty sticking up for them.

I had Avery in Detroit---didn't like him here!!! Hate him more now though...Glad he gone from the west but I am sure I will see him back around these parts again soon.

I guess I'm the only one who loves Avery :) He's got heart, plays his but off and he can have multiple roles. He's an agitator obviously and he does a real good job of it. The best part is that he can also score! What more can any team want? I'd want him on my team no doubt.

He's also hillarious. Sure some of the things he says are stupid but a lot of what he says is funny.

What?? Is this thread actually about Avery? From the title of this thread I would have thought it was about Brodeur :)

I was just thinking the same thing :D lol.

Could you believe that? I am a Ranger fan and it got me disgruntled hearing someone say he is the most overrated player in the nhl lol.

That guy was unreal.

The guy has got to be trolling just to aggravate. Some of his comments were from so far out it was insane.

Anyway, I have 2 Avery Statistical Leaders (PIM) from UD:S1if anyone is interested .

I am actually an Avery fan, but the Kings win this deal hands down. Jan Marek was the key to this deal, and Kings fans are going to be VERY excited when they see what this guy can do.

Kings win the trade even if Marek isn't involved.
