On Tuesday, September 2nd, Randy Couture and the UFC announced that the Heavyweight Champion would return to fight former WWE star, Brock Lesnar for the Heavyweight Championship on November 15th in Las Vegas. The announcement ends months of legal battles between both parties as "The Natural" has signed a new, three fight contract with the UFC. Part of the new deal seems to be that the UFC will again try to negotiate a fight between Former Pride Heavyweight Champion, Fedor Emelianenko and the six-time UFC champion, Randy Couture.

The December fight between Interm Heavyweight Champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir will still take place, with the winner getting a fight with the winner of the Couture/Lesnar bout, unifying the belts and declaring an undisputed Heavyweight Champion.

That sounds like a series of good fights. Good to see Couture back, and fighting Lesnar is an interesting matchup.

No doubt Couture will fight his remaining contract out and proceed to leave the UFC as was his original plan. Lesnar does NOT deserve a title shot but the UFC continues to mirror the WWE and all they care about is $$$$$$.

lesner will destroy couture...even though i want couture to win, lesner is just to much of a beast to handle.

I actually think Couture will beat Lesner. lesner makes a lot of mistakes and I think Couture will catch him in a submission within the first round. I lost respect for Lesner because of the way he conducted himself in his last match. Should be a good fight!

I don't think it's a matter right now of who will win or not, the fight is still months away, the real question other than the obvious "money" why brock lesnar? He's two fights in, one loss, one win, and there's at least 5 people off the top of my head who deserve this more than him!

its because lesner is a huge threat....but who really cares, i only watch ufc for the fights, not whose fighting, except for gsp.

well then there's the difference between me and you, i don't see how someone can watch just for the "fights", and not for the fights and fighters, you gotta respect em'

Mostly because the UFCs Heavyweight division is a joke. There is no "Official" MMA rankings that I know of. Possibly if WAMMA sets something up we will finally have that.

However if you look through all the rankings you want you will see that at most only 1 - 3 current UFC heavyweights fill in the top 10. Those being Nogueira, Couture (whom I do not really count as a UFC top 10 since basically he has been AWOL), and possibly either Kongo or Gonzoga. Definitely the UFC is weak in the heavyweight division. I hope Couture is only fighting until his contract ends so he can fight Fedor, and hopefully that fight occurs in Affliction.

Affliction however appears to command the HW division with Top 10 fighters such as: Sylvia, Barnett, Arlovski, and of course Mr. #1 Fedor. If Affliction can somehow maintain this wealth of heavyweights and the prospect of Tito Ortiz fighting out of Affliction hopefully they can sway a few fighters in the other weight classes and extend their programming. This is win win for everyone as some solid competition would FORCE UFC to stop brewing their watered down product and actually organize a better fight card.

other than their heavyweight division their cards are awesome usually, and you have to remember at one time Ortiz, Sylvia, Arlovski, etc where all in UFC so they did have a nice division, until their contracts came up, even though tito is light heavy!

Man I so disagree, They do have alot of talent in the lower than Heavyweight Classes, but their fight cards are SO SO SO Watered down its sickening. They have the talent, SO USE IT!!!!!! Their motto is more PPVs, and Fight Nights = more $$$. Why load the cards if people will pay to watch bottom tier fighters fight?

Take the next card for example. You have a grand total of 1 fighter who is even remotely considered a contender for his division: Chuck Liddell. Rich Franklin is highly overrated and well groomed by the UFC to appear as a contended. However after being embarrassed by Silva twice, I am pretty sure a title shot is nowhere near in his future. Unless Silvia happens to drop his strap. Lets not mention you do not have a single title defense which is pretty weak, when you consider that UFC has 6 of them (if you could Nog). Obviously this is a "walk in the park" match for Liddell so they can have him fight Griffen for the strap. Why would anyone pay for this? This card lacks about 2 high powered fights to be a true program worthy of PPV status IMO.

UFC 89: The main event is: Bisping vs. Leban. Instant fail, I do not even need to go into detail about that. The only intriguing fight is Machida vs. T. Silvia, being that Machidia is the rightful #1 contender for Forrest Griffen IMO. Why would anyone pay for this?

For a true MMA fan Affliction had a wild PPV card in comparison. Not trying to say Affliction is better than the UFC, but I think the UFC needs some competition so they can put up a way better card.

you think Chuck is gonna run over Evans? Man I love Chuck Liddell as much as any guy who watches his fight and studies his career, but Rashad ain't gonna be a push over man, you better second check that matchup!!!

I don't think that Chuck is going to run over Evans. I know who he is. But I do believe that the UFC thinks Chuck can and will beat Evans, therefore giving them an excuse to give him a title match that he doesn't really deserve.

Dont worry this ones free (on Spike TV) :D

So what, who would watch that for free even? Elite XC at least puts some decent fighters in their free show. And by decent I mean their best fighters, which I realize may not compare to the UFC's talent, but they throw their best out there for free all the time. When was the last time Chunk Liddel fought for free on tv? UFC gives you Bisping for free, YAWN!

Its fine if you guys all love the UFC for what it is thats your opinion.

I just miss the days before all the TUF Noobs were around, when the UFC threw together monster cards that made me want to pay for the PPVs. Now you may get one half decent fight and the rest is all garbage and they know they are the only game in town and people will pay. The UFC is so much following down the road of the WWE it makes me sick.

I long for the day when another fed can compete with the UFC, and force them to throw together some more solid cards. Everyone wins in that situation.
