Now I'm unfamiliar with this product and can't seem to find my answer on the UD site. Are the Golds and blacks #'ed or will we never know how many there are?

Doesn't look like they are numbered, but going by insertion odds, there are 20X more golds than blacks, which is similar proportions to last year when golds were /100 and blacks were /5.

The differences this year is that there are no silver parallels, and that the inclusion of rookies has made the base set larger. If the print run is similar to last year, this would mean there are more of each level of parallel, but no real way to calculate how many.

Hmm needlessly complicated lol. Thanks for the explanation. I guess the strategy is to find a black of the player you collect before its too late. Better to be safe than sorry.

They are not numbered. I believe the Golds are around 1/box and the Blacks are 1 or 2 per case.

I'm just going to copy/paste a post I made on Beckett on the matter, so here ya go :)

First -- If you do the math between set size and the odds given -- you'll see that the rookie parallels and base-set parallels are printed in exactly the same quantities.

It's interesting that UD chose not to release what those parallel print runs are... but here's some math to get us in the ballpark.

First, note that there are 20x as many Gold parallels as Black parallels.

To get one copy of each Black parallel, you must open 144,000 packs. That works out to 4000 boxes (36 packs per box) or 200 cases (20 boxes per case).

So, essentially -- the number of cases producd DIVIDED BY 200 is the print run of the black parallels. 1000 cases would mean the Blacks are /5, 2000 cases would mean they are /10, etc etc.

Bottom line is, it is unlikely that the Black parallels will be quite as difficult as last year's.

The odds are as follows:

Gold #1-200: 1:36 Packs or 1:Box
Gold RC #201-230: 1:240 Packs or 3:Case
Black #1-200: 1:720 Packs or 1:Case
Black RC #201-230: I forget exactly, but I think it was 1:4800 packs approx.

As was already mentioned, without knowing the total print run it's impossible to know the exact number of each. My guess is 3000-5000 cases of this stuff was produced. Also, since the cards are unnumbered, and a lot of people wont even realize they have parallels. Also the product is not widely busted. I bet the parallels are gonna be a pain. But aren't Victory parallels always that way.... Mike

I never read the odds until I read the reply by Mike.So I guess I did well today.I bought 1 box against my better judgement but I got a gold parallel,a gold rookie parallel and also a black parallel.

Regular Gold #117 Brian Gionta
Rookie Gold #224 Erik Reitz
Black #66 Bill Guerin

Nothing special but given the odds that Mike stated then I guess you are right that I did alright.Thanks,Winston.
