These are some very, very busy images. Frankly, they're hard to look at.

It looks like the designs are the only thing they didn't reproduce from last year. Box and case hits are almost the same verbatim. With a weaker rookie class than last year, and 2007-08 boxes and cases still widely available due to a weak break - I'm not expecting this to be successful.

I'd love to see buybacks, rookie cards from previous years, dual SOTTs at one a box, with triples as a case hit, anything to differentiate itself from last year's product and make me want to open it.

Well, if anyone is going to dissect a product to death, it's this group.

If they're suffering from a lack of creativity, it might be time to scale back the products to the reputable brands and save the big ideas for those.

Personally, I think it's awesome kudos to Upper Deck trying something new with the product. As long as the Future watch have autographs and there are SOTTS I am fine.
 
Marks of Distinction isn't new, I'm pretty sure I have one from either 05-06 or 06-07. The 3 autos is standard no? Or was it 3 RCs? Either way, I'm not complaining about the odds not changing, I'm just not a big fan of the new design. Depending on the number of Habs RCs, we'll see if I break any boxes.
 
It's 3 autos and usually 2 RC (unsigned) /999 per box

1 of those 3 autos is guaranteed to be a FW and 1 SOTT and the 3rd will either be a 2nd FW or SOTT or one of the other autos from the product which usually come 1-2 per case
 
Looks pretty good to me.

It usually is one of the best sellers each year - I don't see any reason for that to change.

I do not however like the starting price point.........

05/06 was 2 autos per box
06/07 was 2 plus the bonus second wave of 05/06 which usually was a sott or fw auto rc
07/08 was 3 auts
i guess 08/09 is 3 as well now

FW autos look really nice, but I'm not sure about the SOTT's. I'll have to see one in person before I decide.

Me too, I don't like how they are going with these busy "futuristic" designs with all the products this year but if they look colorful and sharp in person it could probably sway me.

scaling back the product line for creativity reasons has nothing to do with profitability. simple fact is if UD is making money, they'll continue to crank out the products.

I don't think this logic is being argued. However, collectors like myself are growing tired of the same hits coming out of the same products featuring the same players. I don't knock UD for the new look--I quite like most of the pics I've seen--but adding a new hit or two (which, as someone said, isn't new as it's from older versions of SPA) isn't making it better.

I'm far from a UD basher as I love Series 1 & The Cup, but they pump out a ton of similar looking products with similar hits and it's killing the hobby. Obviously, though, as long as there are buyers, they see no reason to stop.
 
Ewww... I'm not a fan of the regular SOTTs or the Futurewatch. The dual of Joe and Vinny looks alright though.
 
Didn't last year's come out in late Feb/early March? I'm guessing they're getting the last few rookies to play so far in the season the chance to sign as we speak.

Last season Sergei Kostitsyn didn't play his first game until Dec 15th and wasn't included in the auto version.
 
Too expensive for me to bust as a box, I'll stick to busting the odd packs and picking off the singles I need from ebay.
