09-10 The Cup - Error Cards

Do we know for sure if it was hard-signed? Might they have sent out the swatches for signing rather than the full cards?

(Hey, if this is a dumb question, tell me so ;) )

I think it's not considered hard signed if the swatches are signed then put in place and Cup never has sticker autos (with exception to Parise RC right?).

Based from previous years, there have been a few of the swatch autos were the signer got pen on the cardboard as well, so I think it's safe to assume these cards are in tact when given to the players.

Not an error, but one thing that bothers me is the "Limited Logos" or "Emblems of Endorsement" that do not contain pieces of logos or emblems. Not quite as bad as the Gordie Howe patch card I pulled that had a piece of regular jersey, but if a set is called Limited LOGOS or EMBLEMS of Endorsement, use a piece of the LOGO or EMBLEM, not a piece of the name plate or numbers. These sets are sought after because of the great pieces of crest, emblems, or logos, don't cheat on them.

I am sure they have the player sign pieces of jersey and then insert them.

I used to work at a LCS and one of our staffers was a witness for UD signings. One particular signing was done in the store and I got to see all the cards beforehand. These cards were all hard signed. No swatches were sent and then inserted into the cards themselves so the Gabby error is the player's and not UD's

Not to get into an argument (because I agree with you) but Superlative spelled Patrik Elias' name wrong so this isn't solely a UD problem.

Spelling errors can slip through (we are all guilty of that at times :p) but putting veteran players' plates in "Rookie Masterpieces" frames in a MAJOR error IMO

Read the title, dude. Start a Superlative thread if you want.

c'mon, his comment on superlative was completely unbiased. this thread headed in the direction of "highest end products" and he showed it isn't just UD. if he was trying to turn it into an UD vs ITG thread or one product is better than the other then i'd agree with you.

It happens to everyone. My church in past put out a community paper called "Neighours". Yes, a committee of 5+ reviewed the 4 pages, and everyone missed the obvious misspelling on the Title! It doesn't take much, and with the total volume of text that goes out in any set, it is no wonder a few slip through.

Sell me the Brooklyn Bridge first.

Alright, all the bickering aside, I do actually have a real "OOPS!" in The Cup.
I haven't scanned it yet but I pulled an Eric Staal 4 piece patch card, and it appears that 2 of the windows have no piece of patch or jersey inside at all, just something that looks like the stuffing from inside a stuffed animal. What really smells is the other 2 pieces are sweet! As soon as I get a scan, I'll add it here...

Here are some scans of the card I was mentioning:

As you can see, the left 2 patch windows seem to be empty, the white looks like a backing material, Any guesses?? How would you proceed?

Like was mentioned on the show and tell thread, I believe those are parts of the velcro on the fight strap. Is that patch per se? I'm not really sure, but it's not a very common material and looks kinda cool.

Yes, i've seen that material as well in the "Fight Strap" SPGU sub-set. Its very cool card imo. I'd be very happy with it. The CCM patch on the right 2 windows is sweeeet! Nice pull

Yes, we now agree that my wierd patch pieces are in fact fight strap pieces. which is flippin COOL! I retract my earlier statement that I had found an error regarding this card. GIANT THANK YOUS to everyone who helped in figuring out this little puzzle!!

Now, on to my Sauer printing plate from Collector's Choice, that lists it on the back from "2009-10 NHL Ultimate Collection Choice Rookies"!! LoL!!!

Maybe they do it for some players but not all of them as I have seen some cards from last years Scripted Swathces have the plays auto run onto the card

100% accurate. I have an Oshie where he did just that.

Here's a Kane..
