It seems This years Ultimate is a Miss..You do not seem to get so called Value for a Box ,let alone a case...

Ultimate is always hit or miss. This year it just seems random though... not a lot of difference in packs. 60% of packs (based on cases upon cases of research) will go something like this:
Base, Non auto RC, Ultimate Sig, Decoy, Jersey card (Either /100 for an NHL star, or /200 for a RC). Talk about boring.

Ultimate is prob one of the more balanced hockey products available that can help you get a good % of the value back.

It's by far the worst product for % return of the season. More than 60% of packs yield what paulxing said, base ($1), non auto rookie ($3), scrub sig ($10 if lucky) and a jersey /200 or /100 (again $10 if VERY lucky). Packs cost $100!!!! That's not even 25% return!

Add to that the fact that there aren't enough "BIG" hits in the product. The shields are the only major hits. Sure, there are RC auto/patches but every product from Ice on has those. They've become so commonplace now it's almost boring

while the spectacular cards worthy of the product price point have rarely been pulled (shields), cases seem to have averaged out pretty decently. its the lone boxes that are ridiculously hit or miss.

I had a fairly decent case (Tavares & Niemi Auto/Jersey, Bozak patch/auto, stunning 5-clr P. Kane Jumbo Patch) and will still come out $200 or so down.
Ultimate is in the group with Black, Ice, OPC Premier, and Trilogy where you need a MONSTER hit plus good luck with player selection to come close to break even.

It's already been said, but Ultimate has always been a product which produces arguably the single biggest hit (single player auto shields), but also has probably the worst average return on hobby dollar spent by a wide margin. I busted a pack once.I won't make that mistake again.

I hit a Tavares auto/patch and a beautiful Brodeur/Roy patch and will still get hammered on resale. There are just too many $20 return packs to compensate for. It's near impossible to make money on a case unless you hit a shield

Opening this and OPC Premier is like having an enema inserted with a baseball bat. Every year. Again, not sure why people go overboard buying this junk. Vegas said it best...this would be fantastic at $50 a shot, not $100.

I personally think the product this year is great. Nicer patches then ever. Id rather buy a box of this stuff then ICE for example. Now THAT product is garbage.

Triple B you make me laugh !! You are killer!! I agree with you ,yes it is nice cards but that price for pack is radiculous! 40- 50 dollars for pack that will be resonable but that I can say maybe on every their products....I belong to the club "UD haters" :devil:

From the breaks I have seen the cases have been STRONGLY team oriented and perhaps if this hadn't been a trend maybe the breaks would even out more. 05-06 was the only year I spent a significant amount of money on this product and I think I bought about a case worth and I can't remember a single memorable card that I pulled. That in a nutshell says it all about this product.

this product would be instantly better if you take out the abundance of Colin Wilsons and Erik Karlssons that seems to be in every other break.
