11-12 Titanium Case Break preview

Sticker auto's, plain Jane designs....boring......I'll pass. Those cards with just a picture of a jersey are also really nasty.....as in bad nasty....not bad ***...bad bad nasty....you get my drift.
 
If hard signed autos are so important, why have the Contenders auto/rookies not been received well on the secondary market?

I think too much weight is put on hard signed cards. I prefer the stickers if it means way fewer redemptions

Hockey fans are a different breed from all other sports where sticker autos are accepted.


As for Contenders lack of resale - people are sheep and there's nothing that Panini can do to change that. When it comes to RC's it's Upper Deck and only Upper Deck (glad I'm not the least bit interested in RC's anymore). All you need to do is look at the plummeting sales for Crown and Dominion RC's (both of which are much better looking than any Cup RC design) to see that people don't base purchases off of content.
 
I will be in the minority and say I love the looks of this, it is soooo Pacific! Those new Wave autos, PIMP! The Quick refractor shiny parallel /10, awesome! I about fell off the chair with the Marleau Patch Auto /5!

I totally see why many would not like it, but if you were a fan of Pacific back in the day, this will bring back some good memories.
 
It's another good looking Panini product and I will rip a box or 2, hopefully hit a Private Signing or 2 for my set.

Hard signed autos are very important, I respected the Contenders on card autos. I won't even chase sticker auto 1/1's, I'm so turned off by any sticker autos. A high end product like this should have more on card autos. If they can do it for Contenders, why not Titanium?
 
Titanium is a $20 a pack, $100 a box product. Not sure I'd exactly call it high end. SPGU is almost double the price and every autograph in that product is sticker auto or manufactured patch auto'd. That product somehow gets a pass on sticker autographs. As do other higher priced products that feature mainly sticker autographs such as SPx, ITG Ultimate and others.

Titanium was brought back to bring back the limited rookie chase with the serial #'d rookies to the jersey number. That's the true meat of the product. We definitely understand the hesitance when it comes to sticker autographs, but if every product was hard signed, we'd probably see a lot more redemptions or longer production delays that are currently being seen on the market.

If you want every product to be hard-signed, you better be prepared to pay for the additional cost, because the companies will just pass it on to the collector.

Of all the sports collectors, from my experience - hockey collectors have been the hardest to please - especially for the demand for hard-signed cards.

You can be sure that when it comes to signing - a player would much rather sign sheets of labels versus having to signing a few hundred cards at a time.

I didn't mean to say Contenders is a high end product, I just meant if one set could be hard signed, a high end one should be, but I do understand there would be more redemptions, delays etc. There's a lot of filler stuff in the product but the numbered rookies are the chase. It's still very difficult to bring back some of the popular sets as Panini hasn't won many people over yet so the value still isn't there.

Frankie....honestly.....steer clear.

The Rookies #/jersey# were a cool idea, still are something, unique. But its Panini. I do like the Private Signings....solid solid set.

I dont dig the designs, not my thing. The New Wave Autos look like a throw back to the mid-90s inserts...which were ugly then and worse today.

I know you resell, as I do....(more quantity from you thats for sure)....but the market has not warmed up to Panini and this product will be another $20pack..with $5 return.....

Until Panini breaks through in the market, which may never happen...hopefully it does....but until that point.....

Panini is cool if your looking to keep everything, horrible if your not.

As far as the stickers go....Im not sure how or why, but the stickers Panini uses seem to stick out more than other companies stickers do and takes away from the card.

I really think Panini will be catching up with the resale value of these cards. SPA vs Contenders 15+ years vs 2 years. Give it time. Dominion prices have been solidifying and going up. Yet again 6 years vs 1. Crown Royal's Rookie Sihlouttes prices are not plummeting. Look at the Nuge. Eberle's and Hall's sell with in 25% of high book rarely are you going to see them for half of book. With the chasing I have done on the Dominion APR I have noticed they are tougher to come by. There are more and more people now doing the set. Supply is starting to dry up at the same time demand is increasing so I am expecting you will see the prices going up. May not be tomorrow, may not even be till next season but they will go up.

Some stuff is destined to go up in value, Dominion was a nice set from the beginning just overpriced. Once it came down to $285 a box it was a great buy. Those ARP were beautiful. I do give Panini credit, they're trying. Like others said, hockey collecters are hard to please. At the price of boxes, it's easy to understand why people are so picky and selective.
 
I agree time is needed to Panini to grow a base of customer/collectors....Ive said this before.

Dominion is a solid set...the only Panini product that I truly like at this time.
 
Titanium was my favorite product back in the day, but the only thing about this set that interests me is the rookies. A lot of people are giving it a hard time for the sticker autos, but my problem is Titanium was always a memorabilia product. Now it seems like there's more autos than jersey cards.

*Just saw in their comments that Chris saw the upside down sticker also and they're working on correcting it before release. Nice catch Chris!
