11 games for Wisniewski

Wow. Awesome. The thing I like the best, is that Shanny is explaining everything. Nothing left to be explained and second-guessed. Even if you do not agree with the decision, you have to be impressed by the way he is being straight-forward.

Very impressed so far.

The only thing left is seeing what happens when a 'league pet' or 'superstar' does something. Personally, I have the feeling Shanny won't let that get in the way, like previous people who handed out suspensions did/didn't.

Too bad Shanny wasn't in charge when Savard and Sid got smoked. The cheap shots laid on them would have gotten even more then this one.

Really liking the zero tolernace so far. Hoepfully this will get the player's attention and cut down on the hits to the head/hits from behind.

I would suspect that Gregory Campbell and friends are going to be on better behaviour now that daddy's not around to protect him anymore.

As for this suspension - my level of respect for Wiz dropped a lot over this hit. There's just no reason to go head-hunting at the final buzzer of a pre-season game. The Blue Jackets' media guy says that he's "devastated" over the suspension and he should be. I hope that he realizes just how dumb the act was and will be a smarter player upon his return...half a million dollars worth of salary later.

Great dig. I love sports loyalty and hatred.

At some point the league is going to have to throw guys like Wisniewski out for good. Were he to come back and end someone's career after this, I'd think they'd have an excellent lawsuit against the league for creating an unsafe workplace.

I am also liking the video explanations. Even for the suspensions where it didn't even account for any regular season games, it gives the league the chance to use the repeat offender claim if any of these guys does something stupid again. I don't have a problem with this suspension in particular at all.

If Shanny does this with consistency then I would agree they are definitely heading in the right direction.

I would rather EVERYONE said "he got too much time" than half say he didnt get enough and half say it was just right.

Wisnew is prime example of that. And based off his prior antics, he deserves every second of that suspension.

Certain current NHL players, like Matt Cooke for instance, should be taking note of this. Just because Shanahan wasn't in charge, doesn't mean he won't take into account past history of these proven repeat and uncaring offenders. If someone, like Cooke for instance, pulls another one of his stunts, I hope Shanahan gives him 41 games, or more, and brings up his past incidents that he barely got a slap on the wrist for.

actually, campbell put campbell to shame.

Well said. Campbell had no gall. Shanny's bringing it. Guys are going to be FRIGHTENED to do stupid things once he gets rolling.

EDIT - I also love Shanahan's video explanations. Makes you realize how arbitrary Colin Campbell may have been. Shanahan explains the hit and then the reasoning behind his decision on the length of suspension.

Very steep penalty for the hit but I relly like that Shanny is handing out big suspensions for these dirty hits. Only way to get rid of them IMO.

Over 500k for the hit. Even though this is not going to put him in the poor house, its still a big chunk. No more 1000 dollar fines. I think seeing players lose money is the only way to stop cheap hits.

Cant wait till one of the leagues stars does something bad. Wonder what the punishment be.
