2012-13 Upper Deck O-Pee-Chee will be the very first NHL Hockey set that UD produces for next years crop of cards. No more will you see 'Victory' as UD has scraped that set altogether. Hockey fans will be delighted with some of the new touches to O-Pee-Chee this year including the Pop-Ups insert cards and the 1950's era Retro Parallels. Upper Deck already has in house Buy Back signatures of Sidney Crosby that will be a difficult, but rewarding pull. Also new for 12-13 are manufactured logo patches of 100 current and former NHL franchises. These logo patch cards fall 4 per case which should give a boost to the secondary market sales of these cards. Some of the patches will be from the Expansion Era, Pre-WWII, and even cartoon and ceremonial versions. Should be an interesting set of cards.

Checklist information will be updated upon release. Scheduled release date: August 2012.

I guess they scrapped the OPC Souvenirs jerseys. I like the concept. I also like the removal of Victory, as long as it means a product like MVP might return to the mix and not another high-end product...

1 word review - FINALLY!

2 more key changes that UD should make that I think would rock:

- bring back ice and include the frozen in time and ice scripts from Trilogy - makes sense, they are all ice themed

- fix SPGU - it is crappy...the rookies suck! they should take out the rookies and use the Letterman RCs from Black - makes sense as SPGU is a patchy product.

12/13 OPC looks like a winner.

Good-bye floating heads jersey cards, hello Team Crests... cool retro parallels and EIGHT cards per pack? Love it. :giggity:

Sorry Frank, MVP won't be returning. But don't be surprised if Hot Prospects makes a comeback...

Well I hope then OPC will take on Victory's price point because $1 a pack is great for kids. This past Christmas I bought a friends son a box of Score and he loved it and now his parents dont mind picking up some packs here and there for that price. He also has some Victory, for kids it is usually the more the better.

Please tell me this is a joke. Hot Prospects? Don't we have enough auto-rookie-patches on the market already??? If you're gonna bring a mid-end product back, make it UD Ice. That stuff has a HUGE amount of set builders

Id much rather take a stab at a guaranteed Auto Patch RC than a guaranteed glacial Graphs any day. How about instead of hot prospects, make the Ice premier patches out of 299 or 349 and insert them one per box like hot prospects, with SP's /99?

Poor man's Cup. It's not a bad product. Give Grant a mandate to fix it up, you'll likely be pleased with the result.

Other than the ARP, there was nothing interesting in that product. Unless they somehow combine it with something else, I just can't see the attraction. Ice meanwhile has monster pull possibilities with Rcs /99 and the Ice Premiere auto/patches /10. If they were to combine this with the Trilogy Frozen in Time inserts and Ice Scripts, the product would be an absolute winner

Man you read my mind!

Actually what I would like is where every pack had a Frozen in Time except one every other box would be an Ice Scripts. And mix in a RC patch auto, it'll have to be sticker auto early in the year, but have the HP card be a plexi too. That way every pack has a plexi so it's not searchable. Maybe make the Ice /99s and the Ice Premiere patches and auto patches be plexi as well.

The rest of the pack can either have 3 base cards or one jersey card, one per box.

Victory vs. Score was like the Blue Jackets taking on the Red Wings the other night. If UD can bump up OPC to open the product year, perhaps scale it back just a slight bit to enable the price point to drop slightly, and then replace it with another pack-breakers product for mid-season, it'll be a good decision.
