Just checked my redemptions from 13-14 and Sam Vatinen auto/rc /999 has been replaced by Josh Gibson auto/rc /999 so Gibson has 2 cards in the set-the auto and non-auto.

Upper Deck had NON AUTO and AUTO RC versions of I believe of about 5 players in their 2013/14 Ultimate release and both versions are listed in Beckett as being RCs. The cards are as A and B but with the Gibson card from SPA since they (the cards) have different numbering, the question is "which one will prevail?" OR will both be recognized as RCs!.

It is ALWAYS the first one numerically in the set. Remember 13/14 spx had the foil cards that were RCs not the usual jersey/autos.. same with trilogy , level 1 is the RC and the others are not even though they are harder to get... don't need to email UD to find out boys

Let's be realistic, gents, the card could have had Wild Wing's name on it and it would have been selling for that price. It's not about the player, it's about the short-printed nature of some SP Authentic redemptions.
Instead of getting an Anaheim d-man (always a highly-valued hobby commodity) you're getting an Anaheim goalie with potential to be a #1.
I don't expect that you'll see a flooding of the market on these since only people who had a Vatanen will be getting the new Gibson...at least initially.

Which gives current holders a full year to cash in on the scarcity side of things, if they so choose to.
Surely we don't expect Upper Deck to just destroy these pieces of history, do we?

I pulled mine so I will be happy with any auto rc I get. And lets be honest-Vatinen was not a true $100 rc. The price for him jumped when everyone was buying up all the redemptions in Toronto and online with the hope of the player not signing so they could get what they want in return. This time UD picked the replacement. When SPA first came ouyt I could have bought that redemption for $10

I agree that we all paid more than what we should have like many SPA redemptions but still...
Gibson with potential number one? If Andersen gets injured for 3 years maybe. And Vatanen was one of the best D-man for Anaheim this year...
That would make him a nice sleeper card. specially being SP.
