Hi, so I am attempting this year's set of spa, and I am down to 11 fw autos, list is below

262 Ryan Murphy Carolina Hurricanes Rookie Auto 999 (redemption)
264 Petr Mrazek Detroit Red Wings Rookie Auto 999
272 Sean Monahan Calgary Flames Rookie Auto 999
274 Tyler Toffoli Los Angeles Kings Rookie Auto 999
276 Vladimir Tarasenko St. Louis Blues Rookie Auto 999 (redemption)
290 Matt Nieto San Jose Sharks Rookie Auto 999 (redemption)
296 Sami Vatanen Anaheim Ducks Rookie Auto 999 (redemption)
300 Rasmus Ristolainen Buffalo Sabres Rookie Auto 999 (redemption)
309 Zemgus Girgensons Buffalo Sabres Rookie Auto 999 (redemption)
312 Nathan MacKinnon Colorado Avalanche Rookie Auto 999 (redemption)
319 Mikael Granlund Minnesota Wild Rookie Auto 999

As you probably notice, half of these are redemptions, aside from the obvious mackinnon and tarasenko.

Now, in past years of spa, there are always a few redemptions that were for some reasons, short printed

I guess this year is no different, Murphy, Nieto, ristoleinen, girgensons and probably vatenen are all Sps compare to the big redemption guys, from the 5 names given, there are probably less than 10 total that are current listed

I think they are at least 7 times rarer than mackinnon/ Gallagher etc, and I rarely seem them pop up in box break/case break

Because of this, prices are quite high for these Sps, I was bidding at the girgensons and Murphy yesterday and gave up when they reached 40 US .... Sigh

I wonder what's the reason behind this is, did they just didn't print all the redemption cards ?? Was this done on purpose ??

I'm willing to bet they inserted all 999 redemptions for the bigger names like MacKinnon, Tarasenko, etc because you need those guys in the product even in redemption form.

As for the lesser known guys, my guess is when it came time to do the pack-out they ended up with extra autos and the low-level redemptions got trimmed so better live content would make it into packs. That's what I'd do anyway.

Or maybe they just didn't bother printing a thousand redemption codes for those players when they know they won't all be redeemed anyway.
 
Is it possible Connor Carrick red is one of these sp? I thought he was a scrub, and within an hour of listing the card on eBay last night, it got bid up to $45 in no time!!! And still 6 days to go. His completed auctions have sold around $35, and there are barely any listed for sale.

Yes he's another one, I pulled 1 in a box so I didn't list him, yes, I think yours is the only one listed right now
 
Humm...by looking at the beckett pricing, Ristolainen, Girgensons and Murphy are listed at 30-40BV. Same price has Seth Jones, Rielly, etc...so I would say even beckett got the heads-up for these 3. Vatanen, Nieto are at 15BV.
Even Carrick is at 25 BV...higher than expected. So I guess you are right. This sucks big time! this is one of the most collected product and not even 999 possible sets!
 
all part of the fun in putting this set together. You get desperate and make an outlandish bid, only to find that someone is more desperate than you are.
 
I must be a sucker for punishment, just picked up a Tarasenko redemption.

I'm expecting big things from him and the Blues and in the off-chance this turns into another Rask/Barker/Filatov situation it will be a nice hard-signed auto to have. I intend on waiting for it too no matter how long it takes.
