I don't think S1 is released on epack that soon after it comes out in stores. If they planned on ending 15/16 S1 today this whole time, then what happens if it sold so fast that all of the numbered hits were picked up months ago? That would mean they can't guarantee any kind of odds.
The only scenarios that work here are that they really did sell out (coincidental timing) or they stopped selling and still have numbered inserts that haven't been opened yet. And what happens to them now?

They have numbered cards there too, so no, I don't think it is funny.
What is funny is that S1 was sold out exactly when S2 came and now S2 is sold out exactly when S1 comes. Tell me it is coincidence.

I think we know it's not. Also, do they state it's "Sold Out" or is it just no longer available? You really can't fault them for the timing; it just seems like a responsible marketing decision on their end.
EDIT: They are stating "sold out" on the site.
