Registered Trader!,
I teased a few cards from my personal case last week, and as promised here is my full experience with this years The Cup.
I decided to only do release night group breaks in addition to my own personal case. In total I spent roughly $5550 USD ($7300 CAD) in breaks that encompassed a total of 90 tins (15 master cases) including my own personal case.
- CloutnChara 3 Master case case hit select - in which I went hitless :|), and a team random where I had 6 of 29 spots and ended up with a total of 10 cards from that break.
- DACardWorld 10 master case team random in which I had 2 spots (random after each case) in which I scored HUGE hits and came away with 28 total cards.
Prior to this post I did end up selling 4 of my hits which have nearly paid for the majority of this break, an overall win in my book!
I have to say I am overall very pleased with this years release. I especially like the reduced Base set size and the addition of the Rookie Class cards as inserts for a bit of added value. The HOF cards are nice but IMO a bit overproduced.
Lets start the show off with the Base cards, not a bad showing if you ask me:
On the Non-Auto Rookie Class of 2019 Cards:
And the Auto Rookie Class of 2019 Cards. Some good rookies in this crop!
Some good old Hall of Famers!
Now on to the "Hits" before the Rookie cards:
A decent selection of Printing Plates. The Robert Thomas is from his Exquisite Rookie and the Comtois is from the Cup Rookie. I personally like printing plates and the addition of Veteran plates outside of those used to produce the Cup are nice, but auto'd versions would have been sweet!
Now onto the Rookies! I am glad to see that UD spent some time and eliminated the dreaded one color swatches that we have grown accustomed to seeing... at least in regards to my cards!
But I have to save the best hits for last of course. Lets do a TOP 10 coutdown:
#10: Ron Hextall Splendor #/36
#9: Fleury, Tuch, Karlsson Cup Trios Vegas Patch #/10
#8: Brock Boeser Base Patch Auto #/8
#7:Elias Pettersson Black Printing Plate (Ice Premiers Rookie) #1/1
#6: Signed Printing Plate Booklet #1/1 of Henri Jokiharju.
A very cool unannounced Hit, I love the inclusion of these this year! Henri Seems to have got signature happy having autographed each plate, you do not see me complaining!
My Top 5 hits are arguably interchangeable, but as some of you have already seen the hit designated #1 wins on the basis of its absolute awesomeness!.
#5: Elias Pettersson Exquisite Endorsements Relics #/50
#4: Jack Eichel Black Base Auto #1/1
#3: Elias Pettersson Fine Silver Rookie
This card is absolutely stunning in person, the scan does not do it justice!
What is better than 1 silver card?.......How about another!!!
#2: Sidney Crosby Fine Silver 05/06 Rookie Tribute!
And a MONUMENTAL #1.
Thanks for the Look! If anything interests you let me know!
