C55
Verified Trader,
Finally completed my dream set! I've only been putting this version of the set together for about two years, but I say "finally" because I first discovered it as a child when I saw the Vezina in a Beckett magazine or online article. I think it may have been because Topps inserted original C55's (including Vezina) in their 2003-04 "Topps C55" set. Or maybe they were just discussing valuable rookie cards. Whatever it was, the cards caught my attention because of their historical importance and the beauty of their artwork and design.
I was not able to acquire any of the cards at that time, but I returned to collecting in 2011 because my hometown Winnipeg Jets came back to the NHL and I was excited that there would be new cards of them. Nonetheless, I eventually tired of modern cards and was reminded of my passion for tobacco cards when I saw some C55's on eBay. I was able to piece together about half the set before needing to sell the cards for college expenses.
After selling most of my modern cards and raising more funds, I was able to start building the set for good in 2015. I acquired a Vezina last year that I have since upgraded and with the both Smaill variations now in hand I have completed the set once and for all. While putting the set together I have also researched the players included and gained even greater appreciation for it; even the "commons" feature players who hold important places in hockey history. I've included a couple sentences about each subject on my set registry pages along with a scan of each card. It's my own little virtual hockey museum I guess

Anyway, thanks for reading/viewing! I do hope to upgrade about half the cards in the set, over time, and it would be great if I picked up something on this forum.
Best,
Anish
