1997-98 Pinnacle Epix set completed

amazing set. How long did it take you from start to finish to do it? You are also brave to put the more expensive cards in pocket pages : )

Epix heaven! I also have never even seen those bottom two cards. I think one of the harder things for me over the year were learning which ones were the rare ones, so I can certainly relate. I still have the ones I pulled as a kid. Probably my first attractive sports card insert(s) pulled. Congratulations!

Nice done!

Can you tell me more about the rare ones? What's the difference?

Yes even though the Season emerald were limited to 50 copies and the Moment emerald were limited to 30 copies there were still "more valuable" cards in the set. The reason, I'm not aware of why. Maybe late release?, maybe Redemption only? not quite sure but when a $12 card sells for $500+ it makes you wonder what the "buyer" knew. It could have been the set makers Final card to finish the set or even the 1st time they ever came across one.

The number sequence to me makes sense the way of the pattern. Mainly because of my experience when buying them. Now, don't get me wrong I made some deals and found some deals but look below and see if you happen to have any in your possession and if anyone knows anymore info on it please chime in.

1-6 of the PLAY cards are the rare ones

7-12 of the GAME cards are the rare ones

13-18 of the SEASON cards are the rare ones

19-24 of the Moment cards are the rare ones

So are you saying 13-18 of Season Emeralds and 19-24 of Moment Emeralds have a lesser edition of copies than the stated 50 and 30?

For my PC your above pattern of rarer cards at least is corresponding.

Yes so even with the /50 and /30 copies of those 2 emerald series those numbers in the sets 13-18 season and 19-24 moment are the ones that were late release, redemption only, or whatever the case may be. I don't have proof of this but that's my theory that I make of it. You have to remember that Pinnacle went bankrupt and even with unredeemed redemptions, some of those cards may not have made it in circulation. But then again, not sure what the employees did with those cards. When Select Certified made those Mirror Cards those were supposed to be limited to 72 copies of Mirror Red, 64 copies of Mirror Blue and 24 copies of Mirror Gold and I read that the employees made more of some and were taking them out the back door. So not quite sure what is true but it sure makes you wonder. Back when those were released I think I still have a beckett saying Patrick Roy Mirror Gold was book valued at $1200 and I think he's at $120 now.

Congrats - very nice accomplishment!!!

Like many 90's releases - these were in some products that very HEAVILY produced! There are still lots of unopened boxes of some of the Pinnacle for sure. Also - pinnacle went out and some redemption's were never filled, although a bunch came out via the 'backdoor' at a later date.

I was about 90% through the set 10 years ago, when a collector from Japan started the set and contacted me after I threw an Emerald that I had a double of on Ebay. He would up buying all the rare ones I had for anywhere from 10 to 50 times what I paid for some.

I borrow this thread for a question. I made this purchase yesterday.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/CURTIS-JOS...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

It's listed as a Promo Epix. But I have compared and can't find any differences so I'm 99% sure it's just the regular Season that's been wrongly labeled. The seller has been very nice and according to him he got it from a dealer amongst assorted promo cards.

I'm happy with the deal either way but would just like to see if somebody know anything about Epix promos.
