Hello,
I bought two Tomas Vokoun jerseys from Classic Collectibles in Canada back in March of 2003 from the bay. Has any one delt with them? My first problem is the jersey #39. Every body I talk to and find info on the internet say he never worn jersey #39. I have emailed the Canadiens six time and no response. Both jerseys have paper work from the Canadiens with Rejean Houle signature on them and papers are dated December of 2002. If anybody could help me out if these are REAL! It would be great. At the worst I have two nice looking jerseys.
Thanks Brian

Here is what I have:

#1-Canadiens home jersey #39. I was told it was made for him but never worn with papers.

#2-Canadiens away jersey #39. Pre-season game used with papers.

But they are preseason jerseys, correct? It's possible that he wore #39 during a training camp because his regular number was worn by someone else, then switched during the regular season.

Hopefully you can track down some photos from that year.

Cory

Edit: hmmm... hockeydb.com has him listed as #37 from his single season game with the Habs in 96/97.

That is probably what happened, the jerseys were from pre-season and someone had his number.. after the pre-season the player who had his number got sent down/cut or something happened to him.. and then he got his number.

yeah I think you're safe with them being authentic, the letter from the team looks pretty official. I'll go with the idea that he changed #'s in preseason as well. Sweet jerseys by the way! :)

That's what I thought. I hope to track down some photos of the the jersey in use.
Thanks for the posts.
Brian

what you can do is, find some old Montreal Canadien programs, may be a year or 2 before his rookie year, may be you will find some more info

I think it's real, therefore it is ;)
Seriously though, I think it's authentic, and definitely like the jersey idea
Great find, Tom.

I'm hoping to track down a photo to match it. Only thing is he did not play much for the Canadiens. Maybe somebody can help. The good thing is I think they are more rare than any of his jerseys that are out there. I guess it is safe to say I wont waste my money getting them framed.
Thanks again, Brian

I thought they (Montreal) only wore CCM (Red Jersey) , not Starter (White Jersey) . Isn't Starter an aftermarket company that makes "Authentic" Jerseys? I've been wrong numerous times in the past ;)

Starter had a contract to make NHL game jerseys starting in 95 with the Avs. Over the course of time, they had a few other teams - the Rangers, Whalers/Hurricanes, Habs, Panthers, Bruins and Coyotes come to mind.

I believe when they came in they split the duties with Nike and CCM, and Pro Player. Personally I believe he did wear 39 at some point, but maybe you might want to check his early Donruss cards (Rated Rookies) for a picture.

Not sure why both say white jerseys. I noticed that this morning. I'm going to call them as see.
Thanks Brian
