Really easy question, were there retail boxes of these? If so does anyone know the configuration of the packs?

Yes, there were retail boxes. I remember opening one to build the base set. I think they were 24 packs/box, I think I pulled 3 brown bordered base parallels and a brown border jerset from my box, but I'm not totally sure, it was long ago.

I remember they also had blaster boxes of this. Never hit anything huge from them but got a few brown border base parallels.
