2014 Trade Deadline thread

Instead of making separate threads for each trade, I figured we could consolidate them all to one thread. Today's deals so far:

-Mike Weaver (FLA) to MTL for a 2015 5th round pick.
-Bryzgalov (EDM) to MIN for a 2014 4th round pick.
-Dustin Penner (ANA) to WSH for a 2014 4th round pick.
-Victor Fasth (ANA) to EDM for a 2014 5th round pick and a 2015 3rd round pick.
-Stephane Robidas (DAL) to ANA for a 2014 4th round pick (WSH)
-Andrew MacDonald (NYI) to PHI for a 2015 2nd round and a 2014 3rd round pick.
-Roberto Luongo (VAN) to FLA for Jacob Markstrom and Shawn Matthias
-Martin St. Louis (TAM) to NYR for Ryan Callahan along with a 2015 1st-round and a conditional 2014 2nd-round
-Marian Gaborik (CBJ) to LAK for forward Matt Frattin and two draft picks.
-Ales Hemsky (EDM) to OTT for a 2015 3rd round and a 2014 5th round pick.
-Tuomo Ruutu (CAR) to NJD for centre Andrei Loktionov and a conditional 2017 3rd-round pick.
-Raphael Diaz (VAN) to NYR in exchange for a 2015 5th-round
-Marcel Goc (FLA) to PIT for a 2015 3rd round and a 2014 5th round pick.
-Tim Thomas (FLA) to DAL for Dan Ellis
-Nick Schultz (EDM) to CLB for a 5th Rounder

And now they're taking Fasth from Ducks to Edm :( ... now I've got a ton of PC cards to trade off to edmonton fans. >.>
 
Finally a trade by the Oilers that seems to make some sense, both getting rid of Bryz and picking up Fasth.
 
The Ducks look like they are gearing up to add a big name by moving Fasth and Penner. They could use a Callahan-type in their lineup and/or a top 4 d-man.

Perhaps. On a related note this makes the goalie decision next year easier by clearing room to bring Gibson up full time.
 
Robidas was a good pick up, worth what they've traded so far? not really. The Fasth one, was because he was conditioning in the AHL, so long as he performs well, that was an Edmonton steal. :( Its unfortunate, I was PC'ing him as a duck.

I think Fasth was expendible because they have Hiller and Andersen.

Andersen is 15-3 this year. I know Gibson is a great prospect but it's hard to demote a guy putting up those kinds of numbers.

Its the scariest thought, that they have a fourth guy waiting in the wings. They just need a good draft pick now to pick up a young guy to replace Selanne for the next decade.

With the way Vanek cried at the olympics, and is treating his current team, I don't think anyone is willing to jump at him for spent assets. Matt Moulson would be a solid pickup, especially from a seller like buffalo, or even Cammaleri from the flames for a good depth/speed guy.
 
Is Fasth any good? I don't know much about him. I could've told you Bryzgalov was a temporary thing the moment they brought him over.
 
Wow, some of these guys are going for dirt cheap. I didn't think Fasth would go for a 5th and a 3rd. Penner for a 4th? Robidas for that same 4th??

Although Robi is a legend,he was 37 and has a broken leg. I'm taking the fouth and runnin lol.
 
Ducks fan here coming to give my sense from the trades. The Fasth trade clears up some goalie space we had a log jam at. With hiller being a UFA, we are either resigning him and Andersen becomes a tandem with hiller, or Hiller walks and Andersen becomes our #1 and Gibson as the backup fighting for the number 1 based off performance.

The Robidas trade adds to our defense and he seems like a good shut down d man for the playoffs. We need some experience back there, and Robidas does just that. Hopefully he comes back soon.

Penner trade to me is a sign that the Ducks A) either done for the trade deadline as they are happy with Robidas, looking to resign hiller, and sign some more of our UFAsor B) Bob Murray is going all in trading some of our assets to acquire a big name to really help us in the playoffs and make the Ducks a strong contender.

I personally believe the Ducks are going to do something big tomorrow whether it be Moulson, cammalari, vanek, or someone else. But then again, bob Murray has a track record of doing no big trades at the deadline, but I guess we will have to wait and see!
