2014 Trade Deadline thread

BFD

Really - just what the Wings need. Another older player to take minutes away from the young emerging talent that has kept them even in the race.

Head Slap:duh::duh:

I was really hoping the Hawks would land him, but instead he goes to the Wings and their fans don't want him? Perfect....

You're welcome.

It is not that I don't like Legwand - it is the fact that we just do not need another aging player - when most of the fans would rather start the transition now by getting our young players ALL of the playing time they can get. We already have uselessness in Cleary Burtuzzi Samuelsson (minors) and our 30+ year old stars (Datsyuk & Zetterberg) are showing signs of wear and tear.

While I am not sure that Jarnkrok would ever had actually played in Detroit, I would rather keep him and the 3rd rounder than spend on a rental player.

I'm happy securing Phillips to hopefully end his career in Ottawa (unlike some other guy last season)... and adding Hemsky for a small price. He's an upgrade on Conacher for sure... who seemed to have that brief run with Tampa and never found his mojo in Ottawa. Now MacArthur-Turris-Ryan... Michalek-Spezza-Hemsky. Should be good enough to try and make a run at a wild card spot. Anderson needs to get back into full form too.

Andy got fairly lucky with the Blue Jackets/Lighting trade, as he's probably already started his RC PC's for all those players.

Makes no sense to me. I know Neuvirth wanted out but really? Halak? Of ALL the goaltenders that moved around the last few days, you got HALAK?!? :duh:

Halak was arguably the best available option. Or have you forgotten what he did to the Capitals a few years ago in the playoffs? If you can't beat 'em , trade for 'em....

I would have rather had Halak than any goalie that was traded over the last week, with the exception of possibly Miller, although Miller is a little long in the tooth.

Good to see Philips re-signed; 2 years doesn't seem all that risky for a guy that remains one of the most durable D-man out there. On the other hand, given that there were no takers for Brodeur I wonder if he's still intent on pursuing a new contract for next season.

I was so disappointed to not see Kesler (or Edler) go; but I guess Van fans need a new talking point to keep themselves busy heading into the summer.

I can't wait to see what Vanek in FA; he'll likely kick himself for passing on the Isle's extension offer.

WOW did the Sabres make out like bandits with the Vanek trade or what!? Couldn't of gone any worse for the Islanders. Lets see how much longer Snow sticks around that pink slip is calling his name.
