It's been two years since I went to Expo. Fall 2013 was the last one. So to say that I was eagerly awaiting Fall Expo 2015 is something of an understatement. I truly missed hanging out with the Expo crowd. From the Thursday dinner through the familiar grind of opening Friday, the steady mill of Saturday and "dammit I need to get the hell out of here" by midday Sunday...

It was welcome and familiar, good and bad. Like a well worn old jacket, finding all the grooves and folds you remember, that hole in the pocket you forgot about, the still-fermenting beer stain on the lapel...

I needed this. In the worst way. I went to be sociable, believe it or not. And I was glad I did.

Still, you're not here to listen to me blither on about touchy feely horseflop. You wanna see some cards. (N.B. All pix below are clickable thumbnails)

Let's start with a long overdue mail call. I DON'T do Dual Tough Patches as a rule, but I made an exception here. I had purchased the single Ray as part of a lot, and it ended up vanishing off the face of the earth. Longish story. I bought this one so that I'd have a Rob Ray:

More recently, won this nice card on The 'Bay and picked up at Expo:

That concludes the mail portion.

I bought a total of TEN cards at Expo. Here they are in some order:

From Darren/MajorGrief Sports:
Love those Z-teams.

An' a Select Gold

For my minor Wickenheiser collection, from my good friend Mr. Singer:

I happened to be walking past a showcase containing this gem. Had to have it.

Daniel at The Hockey Connection had three Millennium Pieces...and as I'm continuing to hoard those...yeah.

He also had this beaut:

Gomaz had this marvel lounging in his front showcase:

Appreciate the deal, bossman. Nothin' but love.

If you're counting along at home, that's nine. I decided I needed to make it ten even. So I broke one of my collection rules to bring this bad boy home:

Them's the goods. Comments welcome.

Twas good to see you man. nice picks ups and you were very good at being a social butterfly. I was surprised that you decided to wear camoflage shirts.. nicely done..

Same here bud. I'll take the story about the black-eyed football player in the back seat of a police cruiser to the grave....I'm still smiling but only because I now see it too!!!

Cheers dude,
Glenn

The display is what it is, extreme quality in small quantity. Glad to hear you got back in the saddle. I feel the potential for me to come back. One day, one day.

Even growing up in the early Linden / Bure ara, I found it hard to love the Halloween jersey, but O... M... G ... that Tiger Williams card is gorgeous! That old skate logo makes for nicer mega patch cards than it ever did as a jersey :)

Steve, it was a blast brother!! How often do you get to be involved in live action video games? That was an amazing couple rounds of frogger we were in!!!! I don't mess with buses. Some sweet pickups and I can't wait until we get to do it again!

Great looking pickups Steve! Congrats on finding your way home to the Expo... it's not quite the same without you around.

And scanning too... my oh my you must be in a good mood!

Cory
