Since it is bound to come up in the next couple days, lets start the discussion now. What are your 2015 hobby goals?

For me, I have 3 goals

1) Finish out the 2013-14 Prizm set that Olivia and I started on and find a 2014-15 set to work on together. (We might have to build a Football set since Topps has Pink parallels).

2) Finish the 12-13 Panini Classics Base Auto Set. I'm down to 39 to go (11 incoming).

The 3rd is the charity work that was started in 2014 in support of the DBA Foundation. In 2014, with the help of others in the hobby, a little more than $900 was donated for research to the Foundation. I would like to double that number in 2015. I am running a COMC port in which 100% of the profits (after COMC listing and withdrawl fees) will go to the foundation. I also would like to do another round or 2 of eBay auctions this coming fall (October, 2015).
What about you?

1.) Find one of the missing pieces for my Garrison collection. Whether it be one of the 2 non-1/1 cards left, or one of his 9 remaining plates, I'm not picky.

2.) Get my Corrado PC to 80, 85, and maybe even 90% of all non-1/1s (so, out of his 105 cards, 84 for 80%, 89 for 85%, and 94 for 90%).

3.) Finally finish off my tradelist and finish sorting all of my scans.
That, or continue enjoying this hobby that I've been enjoying since 2010.

I'm looking to put a few more dents in my 06-07 Parkhurst base auto set this year, but there are a handful that are just way out of reach price wise, so we'll see what I can get done this year? I wouldn't expect to knock of Beliveau, Lemieux, Bowman, Bourque, or Roy, but maybe the other 10 are possible? This also depends on if they pop up, and the prices are reasonable. Just picked up the Edgar Laprade a few days ago getting me down to just 15 to go. Here's what I need:

1-To finish my National Treasures buried treasure /10 set (Lofty goal)
2- To save money for the Conner Mcdavid madness next year lol

1) Maybe to finish my Prizm Leafs team rainbow project. Still need 3 1/1s. Plus lots of other parallels.

2) get some awesome leafs PC cards

Ah, love the New Year's threads, always fun to look back at what goals I had last year, and see where I ended up. In case anyone else is curious believe this was last year's thread http://www.hobbyinsider.net/forum/showthread.php?t=364257

So looking at what I wrote, I had 3 goals...

"My main hobby resolution is to keep adding to the Sedin supercollection as darn fast as manufacturers can produce parallels. That being said I'll strive to avoid the first-copy-on-the-bay premium and collect as economically as possible.

I've done a pretty good job of organizing my PC, a few remaining oversized items that need proper storage rather than dumping them in a heap. Should be easy enough to tidy that up this year.

Another resolution is to actually go through my PC and read every card... not sure if others find themselves in my boat but too often I transfer my latest pickups to fresh sleeves/toploaders, scan and catalog the card, but don't take the time to actually appreciate the card and read the tidbits on the back."

How'd I do?

#1 - I'd say I passed, I've missed out on a handful of cards due to not wanting to overpay, but still kept the Sedin collection at 98.6% complete (excluding 1/1's), and hopefully with the clearance prices on Panini product from last year a few more of those pesky parallels will finally surface and bring me back up to 99%.

#2 - Passed, I finally got oversized top loaders for all the team-issued post cards and other such goodies, starting to run out of storage space in the Ikea furniture I use so probably need to work on that a bit, but overall the PC is pretty nice and organized for once.

#3 - Failed, totally meant to actually look at and read each card as too many have simply been slabbed, scanned, stored, and promptly ignored... maybe this year is the year I finally take the time to enjoy it all.

Ok, so moving forward to this year...

#1 - This one is time-sensitive so it's definitely my number one goal... finish the Lord Stanley's Mug history redemption set - I currently have 34 of 45 cards from the set, need all 45 in order to exchange for an autographed miniature Stanley Cup from ITG before the May 2nd deadline (really worried I'm gonna end up just a handful of cards shy).

#2 - Finish the rest of the Lord Stanley's Mug master set - just 9 cards left from the main set and 21 gold parallels to go. I'm sure a handful will elude me, but hope to be really close by the end of next year. Also, add as many 1/1's as I can from the Memo/Auto, Game-Used Stick, and Mega Patch subsets... currently have 41 and would love to hit at least 50 by year's end.

#3 - Get the Sedin PC back up to 99% complete... might be doable as the monopoly kicks in, Upper Deck product tends to be broken more and surface quicker online, and with price cuts in old Panini product might see the lingering needs from those products surface too.

#4 - Do what I said I'd do last year and actually take the time to look at and enjoy every card in the PC!

#5 - Finish the National Treasures Greatest Signatures subset - just Bernie Parent x/25 and Patrick Roy x/10 left to go.

#6 - Have fun in the hobby! I think the monopoly will help here too... with less volume of cards to chase, should be easier to pick up what I need, and spend more time just hanging out on the boards and enjoying the camaraderie.

For me - finish the Franchise Inks single autos from the Oilers Collection - still missing Messier and Coffey - I am trading very aggressively on those two...

My Hobby Goals 2015

1) Become less dependent on eBay and use alternate channels to get what I need. That includes developing more relationships with case breakers. I love supporting Frank and his ripping at it feels more personal and helps develope greater hobby friendships. Look to join more case breaks to make trades and such.

2) Keep the Henrique PC at 95% or higher while also developing patience. I have to learn that a card /35 will show many times and I don't have to jump on the first one. I got better with this as the year went on, helps the wallet big time.

3) Keep the picking up of extra's down to a minimum. No need to dive into everything I see

Goals for the year.
#1: Focus on cards I will enjoy looking at and have in the PC
#2: Save money for next year's cards (going to be big)

I've got a few things I'd like to get done this year:

1) Reduce the size of my collection by 80%. I'm removing everything outside of my Toews collection, and a few sets.

2) Try to find the Lafleur and Perreault to complete my 2004 Legendary Signatures autograph set. Probably easier said than done.

3) Continue working on my 2004 Legends Classics auto set, with the goal of adding 10 cards I need (currently need 36 in total).

4) Try to add 20 Toews autos to my PC.

5) Continue to slowly work on a few HOF basketball auto sets.

Well, since my resolution last year was:" get a lot more cards." I think I finally kept a New Years resolution after all these years lol. But in all seriousness here's three more goals to achieve.

1) land another ITG Enforcers 1/1 Tough Patch.
2) start and finish another tough guy set.
3) hit up another card show, this time with my boys, I know they'd love it.

My wantlist is pretty small at the moment with items that I'm not likely to see or am just not willing to pay for. Last year was mostly about the 80s. I picked up a bunch of OPC sets that I've long coveted and I finally acquired my first Gretzky RC (Topps; OPC still out of my budget.)

This year? Maybe I'll step back another decade and work on the 70s a bit. I just don't find the sets of the 70s terribly excited during the WHA years. Lots of nobodies in the NHL sets filling in. I do really like the early 70s sets, but again, am I willing to pay? We'll see.

Mike

I am not going to put inventory goals on this list since "Scan the remaining 1996-97 Hockey cards" have appeared for two lists now.

Here are my goals:

1. I will try not to take the hobby too seriously. It is a "Hobby" for a reason. I will try not to get caught up with the BS that is on the boards, Ebay or in person...return to the hobby.

2. Stop randomly purchasing stuff that I won't be uploaded/organized within 3 months. I finally sorted a 5000 count box of 1995-96 Inserts/Parallels/Rookies that I have had downstairs since I returned from my honeymoon in 2012. It is not 100% organized, but it is at least broken down by set.

3. Continue the progress on Craig Anderson collection and look for missing pieces on the Khabibulin collection...maybe return to set collecting, but it is kinda hard when sets you love, ITG Heroes and Prospects and Between The Pipes disappear.

Thanks for reading, I will update if the spirit moves me.

Happy New Years peeps.
Shawn

First a look back at least years goals:

my goals for this year are:
1. only purchase singles (no boxes)
2. only add ovechkin cards that feature just him (no dual, trio cards)
3. not add anymore promo/show cards
4. add as many Matt Johnson jersey/serial numbered cards as possible
5. Pick up a few more letters for a Nathan Horton SPGU lettermarks nameplate
1. I opened a few boxes of 14-15 mvp, 1 box each of totally certified and OPC, so for the most part pretty successful with that goal.
2. did very well with this, only picked up a handful of cards that feature more than just Ovechkin, most were older cards of him when I was still collecting cards featuring him and others
3. total fail on this part, for whatever reason I find that Panini/upper deck do a great job with show/promo cards whether its the expo's or the draft cards, still picked them up
4. added a few more Matt Johnson cards this year, they seem to be harder and harder to find, would love to add more serial numbered and jersey cards, have over 50 of his BAP auto's (I think that's enough or is it ?)
5. Picked up 1 more letter which means I'm only 1 short now and also added 4 of the 6 from ITG used nameplate that came out this year.

Now onto my goals for 2015
1. make a complete Nathan Horton wantlist and update my Ovechkin list
2. Type up my entire trader list and attempt to move them all out for Toronto Maple leaf cards, this way I don't have 2 boxes of traders anymore
3. Add Nathan Horton ITG USED nameplate cards/ 08-09 SPGU lettermarks to complete nameplates
4. continue to add Matt Johnson cards even if they are doubles
5. continue to be disciplined and not add multi player cards to my ovechkin pc or parallels and show cards

1. I want to get 10 of the XSP of the 12-13 BTP Goaliegraph set

2. Get as many as possible Jonathan Rheault cards/plates

3. Have a lot of fun in the hobby. get to know new people and break a lot of wax :D

1. finish the Enforcers 2 Auto Set, only need Howe and Lindsay

2. in 2014 i pulled an Orr and Gretzky auto, In 2015 I hope to Pull a Howe auto

3. Landeskog Cup Rookie!

1)Continue to add to my Jacob Markstrom collection
2)Pick up some 1/1's(and anything that catches my eye) of Jack Johnson, Boone Jenner, Ryan Murray, and Brandon Dubinsky cards
3)Finish off my set
4)Figure out if I want to start new p.c. of Anton Forsberg or Kerby Rychel. Or maybe collect both.

I have two main hobby goals for 2015:

1) Acquire any of my top-3 White Whale cards (for a realistic price ):
  • 99/00 Upper Deck Century Legends Maurice Richard "Epic Signatures" Autograph Silver Version
  • 10/11 Upper Deck The Cup Steven Stamkos/John Tavares "Enshrinements" Dual Autograph /35
  • 03/04 Upper Deck SP Authentic Wayne Gretzky "Sign of the Times" Autograph
2) Complete the only set I'm currently working on: 2010/11 Upper Deck The Cup "Enshrinements" Autographs- Singles /50

  • Down to the final nine:

    CE-BH Bobby Hull
    CE-DI Marcel Dionne
    CE-EL Eric Lindros
    CE-IL Igor Larionov
    CE-MD Matt Duchene
    CE-MI Mike Bossy
    CE-PE Phil Esposito
    CE-PK Patrick Kane
    CE-TS Tyler Seguin
If anyone can help, please let me know. I will keep my eye out for assisting others in this thread with their 2015 goals.

Thanks,
Dan

I will try to keep it simple. So my hobby goals will be...

1) Trying to add at least one missing Jason Demers card to my PC. (I don't count Demers 14-15 UD Exclusives/100 that is already coming to my PC)

2) Trying to find at least one of these: 1997-98 Donruss Elite Status /100 Olli Jokinen or 1997-98 Pinnacle Certified Rookie Redemption Gold Olli Jokinen.

3) Hoping to see a new card of Jason Demers with Dallas Stars jersey.
