2016 NHL Playoffs, Round 1: Who ya got?

Dallas in 5
Chicago in 6
Anaheim in 5
Los Angeles in 6

New York Isles in 6
Detroit in 6
Washington in 6
Pittsburgh in 7

Round 2

Chicago in 6
Anaheim in 5

Detroit in 5
Washington in 5

Round 3

Chicago in 7

Detroit in 6

Stanley Cup

Detroit in 6. Datsyuk hoists the cup and then retired :D

That would be my ideal bracket. Obviously I am biased. I do have a small bet with a friend with this exact out-come.

I would love for Detroit to make a deep run, just not sure 'the kids' can step it up and stop shooting at the goalie instead of shooting around the goalie. Also I've never liked Howard. I would say Detroit would win in 7 and close the series out away from home like the tend to do, but I would love for them to win it at home because of Datsyuk's (probable) retirement.

West
Dallas in 6
St. Louis in 7
Nashville in 7
Los Angeles in 6

East
Washington in 5
Pitt in 5
Florida in 6
Detroit in 6

Dallas in 5
St Louis in 6
Anaheim in 6
LAK in 7

Washington in 6
Rangers in 5 (Had Pens in 6, now changing before puck drop. Fleury is not playing tonight, yet took everything in practice and the pre-game skate. Assuming he had a setback, and I'm not expecting him to play at all in this series.)
Florida in 7
Tampa Bay in 6

Zatkoff really stepped up. Will be interested to see if he can continue.

Maybe we're wrong about Anaheim too. Everyone except Davis picked the Ducks (myself included) but Smashville is taking a 2-0 lead back home with them. Impressive

Concur.

Something finally got into Nashville after all these years and they look on right now. If Rinne stays in form I could see a Preds/Blues WCF matchcup at this point.

I picked a bunch of Ducks too in my playoff pool. Should have known better. I didn't like Boudreau's line up and goalie selections before, and I'm not liking it now.

Haven't caught much of the Series to be honest. Just have no interest in staying up until 1 AM to watch Ducks/Preds. Lol. What is he doing that isn't good? Did I hear Getzlaf & Perry are separated?

Worried about a couple of my picks, but if they end up wrong it wouldn't bum me out.

I know Chicago doesn't have "it" this year, so if the Blues win I'm good. Same with the Sharks if they bounce the Kings. Blues and Sharks are two teams that really need to get the monkey off their backs in regards to their opponents. I'm good with Nashville winning too, if the second round ends up with San Jose, Nashville, St. Louis, and Dallas/Minnesota, that's some pretty fresh blood in the playoffs instead of the same old same old every year. I don't think anyone would have seen it coming either, some horses would be one and done.

Hoping Washington comes out of the East, and if it's not the Hawks, I think a Dallas/Washington or San Jose/Washington SCF would be a blast. Similar teams with size and skill, and none of the overly goonish shenanigans. Plus, there's guys on all those teams I would be happy to see raise the Cup, looking forward to how this all unfolds.

Just a fun little fact:

Last night, all 4 home teams lost. (NYR, CHI, NSH, DET)

Overall thus far, teams are 12-14 at home in the playoffs.

The West is 4-9 at home. Road teams are bringing it.

Detroit 1st team out, I think if Mrazek had played the whole series, it might not be over already.

Kaner did Kaner like things to keep the Hawks alive. That is a heck of a series to watch.

dang
kings out already..

Not sad here. Have always rooted for the Sharks.
Kings have been in my disdain category for oh .. let's see.. since the Great One was traded there.

Go sharks and come on Caps!

Interesting how everyone is talking about the Sharks "finally" beating LA yet the team have locked heads 4 times in the playoffs in just 6 seasons and each has won the series twice. I understand the historical comeback by LA in 2014 but I still remember Joe Thornton tumbling and rolling around center ice after beating us in Game 6 in 2011..................

That said, the Blues looked like they were gonna ragdoll Chicago right out like SJ did to LA, but the Hawks showed that championship resiliency and pushed them every inch they had to give. What a series, said it would be the best one, it was. We actually may not see better hockey then that the rest of the way. I've said I think this could be the Blues year, we shall see.

My oldest son picked Pens in his bracket before the playoffs to win it all. How many people did that? Not many I bet.

Another Game 7 tomorrow, be nice to see the Preds advance, fun seeing new faces and teams when your guys are out. It's good for growing the game!

Let's hope this is true because we are at an all time low for hockey ratings in Canada..

http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/playoff-tv-ratings-down-a-shocking-61-percent-in-canada/

I guess I am not alone in not having the drive or motivation to watch the play offs this year..

However hockey ratings in the USA have increased but this is not the curve the NHL wishes to see.. there needs to be a steady rise. Let's see what this looks like at the end of the playoffs.

Regardless, its interesting watching the ratings conversations in my office since I work in advertising.. advertising rev during hockey is critical to a lot of the work here in Toronto.
