Hey Apple-Dumplin'-gang..
This will be a shorter version compared to years past. With two very active boys, I don't have the same level of energy I once had. They must have known that I was going to be away doing expo stuff as they kept me up each and every night of the weekend. It is kind of funny as I arrived each morning to set up shop and I had eyes just as red as the hungover dealers strolling into the show. I will be honest.. Some of these dealers ... you ain't 20 no mo. I prolly could have made my weekend peddling advil to these jackhammers.
On a side note. I took no pictures this time. What the good eff was I thinkin'.
Thursday was great. I met up with the usual suspects. Gomaz, LSOH, Scooby1970, No no Steve, Great8 and a slew of other folks. I am forgetting like 30 people I ran into as well LOL. We all strode over to Jack Astor's and had ourselves a feast of ages. Compared to Lone Star.. the food and scenery was amazing. Thankfully my wife does not read my posts. Did I say the scenery was beautiful? Sorry.. I digress and should move on.
After dinner, I met up with Eli to grab my case of UDS1 that he cracked for me on this breakers channel LSOH earlier in the day. I was lucky to hit my matthews and a slew of other good hits. This is going to be my last time breaking UDS1 before Expos. I quickly ripped out my price gun and started mad pricing singles like meth addict with a glass bottle and some rocks.
I know I sound like a broken record, but I can't be stuck with all the singles once ePack comes out. If you knew how much bulk I have of last years McJesus year singles, you'd cry. Ok off topic... back on topic.
I have been so stressed out from work and home life (the good kid stress) that I was really looking forward to the show. I fully prepared myself to sit on my *** and relax. I had zero plans on scouring the floors for deals or bulk because I knew that I don't have much time to do the work of selling it. I kept a low profile. This is code for sitting on my *** and loungin' like Tony Montana, sans cigar.
Given how little I prepared for this show and how little bulk I bought in advance, this was probably one of my more successful shows in a long time. It was one those shows where people didn't argue with me. They looked, saw and asked for a card and paid me my dough and moved on. It could be that I don't hover over people when they are looking at my show cases. It's not my style and works well for me. One guy thanked me for not getting up in his grill with a fake smile LOL..
I met so many of you at the tables that I forget all your names.
Almost all of you were able to recognize me from my picture on my profile. This was one of the few years where I did not have a single person ask me if I was Ryan (triple b) lol.. however one guy thot my name was Parvez.. um.. well let's move on..
Ok so remember I said that I was not out looking for deals. These deals came to me. I present you my pick ups.
Got this in a trade for a scrub exclusives young gun. I was happy..
This was from a deal with AJRamsWpg. I ended up picking up 5 cards off of hime and kept this one. The rest sold which was nice.
Pretty sure some cat walked up to me with this one. I did not own an Iginla.. its super nice in person..
This was a walk up. The person who brought this to me got a history lesson on how I have yet seen a Damphousse in person. Regardless it is home with me now..
This was a gift from my main man Eli (LSOH). Thanks buddy.. he knows how to melt my heart. Hahaah.. Eli is one of my all time favorite buds in the biz.
I got this in a silly deal. Like it was so silly that I didn't think the seller was real. I loved it and bought it.
I did pick up a ball from Gomaz of Rod Carew. Thanks Gomaz
One of my favorite moments of the show. Meeting Fergie Jenkins. He was so nice and signed a ball for me. Finally.. A CDN legend..
All in all, I was so happy. The show was wonderful. The people were wonderful and the crop dusters didn't make an appearance.
Cheers and see you all next year.. with PICTURES this time, I promise!
