2017 - 18 Off-Season Discussion Thread

So the Flames and the Sabres seem to be winning the offseason so far. Waiting to see how the situation with Tavares plays out in Toronto before I declare them winners. Short term maybe, but I don’t think they are any closer to a Cup than they were a week ago.

Sabres absolutely FLEECED the Blues on that OReilly trade.

Habs have been comically awful this offseason.

I'm happy to see Plekanec back with the Habs. 1 year, and far less $$ for the year than in his previous contract. He's good on penalty kill and faceoffs. Good work ethic.

I feel that this is a great deal for the Blues. They got rid of two depth centers a non-elite prospect, a first rounder likely to be in the 20's (and top-10 protected if the Blues falter this year), and a second rounder. Five average/good assets for, at worst, a great number 2 center. That's a huge win in my book for St. Louis.

There has to be another shoe to drop in Carolina.....

They've now got a Blue Line that consists of:

Dougie Hamilton (5.75)
Jacob Slavin (5.3)
Justin Faulk (4.83)
Calvin de Hann (4.55)
Brett Pesce (4.02)
TVR to be resigned
Hayden Fleury to find a spot for
a few prospects that aren't that far off from needing a spot.
