Upstanding Member,
Hey folks,
Finally caught up. Here are my 2017 pick ups.
Like last years post, let's start off with Canadian born RCs.
Tom Robson
- As a BC born player, Tom hasn't yet made his MLB debut but I've chased his card since his performance winning the title for the 2013 Vancouver Canadians.
2011 Donruss Elite Extra Edition Franchise Futures Signatures Green Ink /10 and 2011 DEEE Prospects Signature Status Gold #71 Tom Robson /5 and 2017 Dunedin team issue. I believe I have his rainbow from Donruss Elite.
Jameson Taillon (2016)
- yah, I know he's not born in Canada BUT his parents both were and he played for Canada in the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Good enough for me.
Bowman's Best, Topps Heritage (Color Variation) and Topps Update
Panini Prime Cuts and National Treasures
Dustin Molleken (2017)
- his only RC
Topps Heritage
Rob Zastryzny (2017)
Topps Series 2, Archive, and Heritage
Topps Inception, Limited and Mini
Nick Pivetta (2017)
- From BC, Nick went 8-10 with the Phillies but only has two(?) rookies with the Topps Mini and the Topps Update (which I don't yet have)
- Nick's teammate Jesen Therrien made 15 appearances but hasn't received a card yet.
Topps Mini
Andrew Albers (*2017)
- Story time. Andrew's debut was in 2013 with the Twins and started 10 games. I thought he might get a card in 2014 in Topps or some early set. He did not. He returned to the league in 2015 playing 1 game for the Jays and was back in Minny for 6 games in 2016. This year was his big breakthrough as he went 5-1 down the stretch for the Mariners. HOWEVER, his rookie card shows him with the Braves?!? He WAS a member of the Braves who signed him in Dec 2016 and he played for Atlanta's AAA team but when Seattle ran out of pitchers, Seattle purchased his contract last August and he got called back up.
So his rookie card comes 4 years after his debut with a team he never played for (other than spring training). As he signed in Japan for 2018, this may be it for MLB cards for him.
Next up, let's do random PCs
George Arias - 1996 Select Mirror Gold
David Chavarria - 2017 Carolina Mudcates (Pitching Coach)
Todd Greene - 2017 Topps Buyback (1991 Topps) Bronze
- not a fan of foil stamps. Think they've been done to death. This will likely be the only one I get.
On to Seattle Mariners RCs
I do collect Seattle Mariners RCs of players who have been elected to the team's HOF. I decided to jump the gun a bit and pick up some Felix Hernandez and Ichiro cards when I see them at a good price as I'm current with the members already enshrined (Niehaus, Davis, Buhner, Martinez, Wilson, Johnson, Griffey Jr, Pinella and Moyer).
Felix Hernandez (2004)
Bowman and Topps Total
Next up, a Burnaby born player
Jim Adduci (Jr.)
- I'm not sure he considers himself Canadian but he was born in my hometown, so I've chased his various issues.
Topps 65th Anniversary Stamp (Buyback)
We will close off with my Mitchell pick ups.
In 2008 Razor produced various Letterman of D.J. Mitchell. Here are the C's from the x/5 version and the 1/1 version. I have finished the base version as well as the /20.
And we get a bit closer with my Kevin Mitchell pick ups.
2016 Topps Archives (x3)
Star (from some year), 2013 Topps Supreme and 2017 Topps Memorable Moments.
Thanks for the read,
Kevin
