Have the itch to break some wax, but I've never done OPC before. Anybody have any opinions whether it is worth it? Of course, UD Series 1 is right around the corner...should I simply wait?

Appreciate your thoughts in advance!

I have heard multiple times that from all of the products that the best return on investment for boxes is OPC. So many inserts and parallels per box. Some can be worth quite a bit too.

With that being said you will get a lot of lower end dollar or two cards. It will be a lot of work to move many of the cards.

Hunting for all of those variations would be super fun, plus there are some SP'd parallels and some manufactered logo cards that can be worth a bunch that it would surprise you.

I'd say if you're looking for something fun, OPC is it.

UD Series 1 could net you something really nice with a Lafreniere Exclusives/High Gloss, etc though.

I'd say from front-to-back, OPC. If you're looking for more of a 'gamble', go for UD Series 1.

Thanks to you both!

I’m locked in for S1...I think the time commitment to move cards might keep me from going in on OPC...despite the current price being roughly 30% below MSRP.

One advantage to OPC over series 1 to keep in mind is that series 1 gets released on epack and once that is released, the prices quickly go down.

Thanks, Josh - I'm still waiting to see whether Lafreniere will make the S1 release. Seems unlikely to me. Has anyone seen the YG checklist yet?

There are numerous threads here that have 'soft' confirmation that he will appear as a YG in Series 1. They also alluded to it 'heavily' on a recent Sports Cards Live. That being said,

If you want 'fun', OPC. Boxes will be more even in terms of value and you get a nice mix of inserts and parallels.

If you want 'ROI', it depends. If you can't move the middle-of the road stuff, I think you are better off with OPC. There's really no expectation there and the focus is not on RCs which puts the value in the rarities (of which you will get plenty). You'll get your return in a base set and a few individual rare cards. I think to maximize ROI on Series 1, you have to look at grading the YGs. As was said, once epack releases, you can get the lower tier YGs for $1 or less on COMC, so you also have to move faster.

If you want something big, it's probably Series 1. Canvas YGs, Acetate YGs, Draft RCs and parallels, I think there's higher protentional for that 1 card.

If you were keeping it sealed, I think Series 1 also might be good for that, too.
