Fun. I thought the deal was 3 months after brick and mortar shops received it. By my math we're not even at 2 months. I was expecting UD2 mid-Sept.

Not complaining, just an observation/question.

Lots of releases in previous years were around 2 months after the general release.

Card shops should get access to same "basic" bonus materials as e-pack. A friend very kindly gave me a copy of the MVP card "zero" of Kaprizov. Neat idea, but my LCS and I had no idea it existed. Building a set a getting a bonus card from your LCS are things that should be promoted hobby-wide.

I disagree. I love the e-pack exclusives and it encourages the use of its platform - which is fantastic BTW. If they did what you're asking for then we could say all expo exclusive cards should be available in regular packs and Wal-Mart should have hobby boxes. Exclusives are marketing tactics and are used in basically every hobby industry imaginable.

Too OLD to buy into e-Pack!
Unless they have seniors' discount.
I do not have an account to buy into.
Ca$h works well locally AND @ Expo.

E-pack prices stay the same until the product inventory is exhausted, unlike LCS' that raise prices almost immediately after release date. So in a way you could say products are normally cheaper there.

The 3 months timeline was pretty much a norm, but not always a rule. I'm not sure what determines the e-pack date but it would be nice to have to consistency and know ahead of time.

The boxes opened at Expo and other big shows are sold to the public by dealers who are LCS owners or online retailers so this argument doesn't work. E-pack is a direct competitor to LCS and online retailers. I've always questioned how this can be allowed. The manufacturer competing with the retailers? I get why they do it. It makes perfect business sense but it sucks for the stores. If there were e-pack only products, that would be a different story.

I get why Upper Deck went to e-pack. I routinely take a diagonal route between Colorado and the Upper Midwest where not only is there no longer any card shops, there is barely any big box retailers that would carry card products either. That's about 900 miles between card shops, a story that can be repeated across much of North America. However, there are big-time card shops that still exist. The simple incentives should be the same, especially for a product like MVP, where part of the target audience is probably not even eligible to sign up for e-pack.

Hype the card shops as well as the online platform.

As long as you ignore there's a world beyond southern Canada, I agree. If we speculate that someone could live, say, in Europe, I completely disagree.

So you want LCS to have the same exclusives as e-Pack? Then what about Wal-Mart? Do you want Wal-Mart to have them too? So what about retail boxes vs hobby? How can one box contain exclusives and the other not?!!?

This whole argument is so dumb. Every large industry has exclusives, especially ones involving hobbies and collecting.

And if you don't want manufacturers competing with retailers then should we close all outlet malls or other stores that are ran by manufacturers like Nike of Lulu Lemon outlets?

The argument that e-Pack shouldn't be in business or have exclusives is a trivial and nonsensical argument conjured by collectors who don't use it.

Hi is it possible to have ePack vs. Hobby/Retail cards to have some sort of markings on them? Maybe a different foil or even hologram? You wouldn’t be a true collector if you didn’t secure both copies. Maybe COMC could put a sticker or seal on the ePack cards. I don’t know if there is a predetermined allotment for ePack or printing costs but I think it would be cool. At least for the Young Guns.

Please dig up as much info as possible. Thanks for your previous info on the latest UD news. This board is probably the only one where hockey folks can come to cry about the Hobby so yeah lucky you lol.

You're being a bit overdramatic here. Is it possible for them to release hobby only content as well as epack only content? Why not? Are they releasing all of their "additional" hits on epack? Yes, they are. Could they do something for hobby stores? Yes, yes they could. Will they? Probably not until it's too late and the hobby dies.

I have never understood comments like this. Hobby dies from not having hobby shops? I have barely stepped foot in a hobby shop in years. Every time I do I regret it. Usually all overprice singles and then when you bring up comps the owner get upset and complains about ebay and epack. No thanks...will stick to online and card shows mostly.

Let’s keep this clean boys. Nothing wrong with a healthy discussion but no teabagging please.

Upper Deck is out of hockey soon anyways. Just another cash grab for them but Fanatics will be doing e-pack as well. I'm sure lotsa stuff will be exclusive through their site and e-pack only.
