Is it time to close the salary cap loopholes, or, should the NHL just sit back and let teams manipulate the system and go in to the playoffs 20% over the cap? I thought the league wanted parity but what we are seeing is far from that. Thoughts?

Tampa is the obvious perpetrator here. I did a little more research and this is what I came up with for current roster salary in the playoffs with a 2020-21 salary cap of $81.5 million:

I can’t really fault teams for taking advantage of it I guess. I blame the NHL for knowing this is an ongoing issue and doing nothing to address it. $10 million in extra salary between the Lightning and Isles is pretty hard to overcome. $19 million gap between TB and FL is borderline criminal and never should have happened.

My guess a new rule is implemented also. They should have a cap in the playoffs to keep things fair.

In other news, I can’t stand Corey Perry but how did four stripes miss him getting half of his nose chopped off last night? I get that it’s overtime and all that crazy “the whistle disappears in OT”, but when someone two hand swings a stick that hits a guy in the face and the blood is pouring, you have to call that.
