Big autograph came in the mail today for my All-Time NHL player autograph project and wanted to share.

After years and years of searching, today I added the very last 1990s NHL player autograph to complete the decade of NHL debuts. A European autograph collector had one to trade (thanks Facebook) so all it took was a couple extra autographs I had laying around. Over a 25 year period from 1989 to 2014 a grand total of 3,299 people made their NHL debuts and with Vyazmikin finally added, I'm at 3,299/3,299 for 100% over that period.

I got my first autograph when I was about 12 but it wasn't until the end of high school that I had transitioned away from Steve Ott cards and completely to this autograph project. I'm 29 now so its taken well over a decade of consistent autograph collecting to get to this point.

You can see every autograph, organized by year of debut then alphabetical, here.

Vyazmikin died young over a decade ago. He only spent a short time in North America and then bounced around Europe for a few years. He never had any major card released and since he was a relatively unremarkable player, really flew under the radar. Have only seen a couple other copies of his signature and those are tucked away in other autograph collections.

For the all time NHL player collection starting with the 1917-18 debuts, I'm at approximately 6,874 / 7,746 for 89% overall. My 2021 goal is to reach 90% but its getting harder and harder to find those on my wantlist now.

Wonderful and significant addition. I think I may speak for all on this board and say that we're all rooting for you on your quest

Can't wait to see what you manage to track down next.

Jay! That's awesome. The only other copy of Vyazmikin I've ever seen, is the one in my collection (I bought it from a dealer on eBay years ago. It was included in a lot of signed index cards). I had no reference to see if it was consistent with other signatures, but the other autos all looked good to me, so I assumed it was. Yours looks very similar to mine:

Yeah, I later had the index turned into a Cut Autograph.

I like that you were able to find an Oilers photo for your cut. When I was looking, couldn't track one down.... so I just reused the image I had of (as far as I know) his only Russian card.

Now these are stories that you can't help but smile when you read them. I am so glad you were able to finally put the finishing touches on the 90's with this final autograph.

You autograph collection is the definition of hobby insanity (in a good way), and I'm so here for it.

Keep up the great work and see you at 90%! :D

That's incredible news, your dedication to this project continues to amaze! Best of luck in tracking down more.

Wow, this is amazing. I was just browsing the collection in the link. Super impressive.

Best of luck getting over the 89% mark.
