So my wife is awesome and is setting up a trip for my 40th in August to the HHOF in Toronto. Being from California this has always been a stretch that has only gotten further away with each kid we’ve added. My question is, what do we need to make sure we see. Aside from going on the website and seeing the advertised attractions, I want to hear from people who have been there and knows the “must see” that is not known to the average guest.

Bonus question, what else is worth a visit in the area. We won’t have a car so something relatively local to the HHOF. Any good LCS’s?

This is exciting. Without knowing how long you're in Toronto it's hard to give other suggestions, but I can try. Shoot me a PM and happy to help with anything specific - restaurants, shopping, bla bla.

But like piper1 said, go to a jays game. If its in August its going to be hot as f and if the dome is open it will be awesome. Fun (little known) fact: you can bring whatever food you want into the rogers centre - homemade sandwiches, a sub from across the street, a whole pizza. Anything goes food wise but drinks are obviously a big no-no.

As far as the Hockey Hall of Fame goes, it's kind of you see what you see. Nothing really hidden or special. They used to host these 'industry nights' for lack of a better phrase where essentially the whole hockey hall of fame turned into a bit of a bar scene - a few bars scattered around, some guy playing country music in the middle of it, etc. I went a few times and had a blast, but I have not heard about them for a while.

The HHOF is right on the subway line, which to be honest, isn't the best public transit system for city access, but it can get you quickly to the ROM, Queen's Park, etc. You may want to check to see if Toronto FC are playing while you're in town too. Card shops - I don't think right down town (rent is too costly) but if you're coming the August 21-24 weekend, that is FanExpo weekend... it'll be crazy down there and if you have any interest in that type of thing, super fun to go at least once.
