Hey all. I know many of y'all are Hockey only collectors, but with the recent posts, threads etc about Topps I had to share this.... Topps just announced a new baseball product called Transcendent. I kid you not... SRP is $27,000 a box.

Mike I saw this the other day and thought of you as one of the few baseball guys besides myself round these parts.

I'm not sure what the invitation is with a special guest but it better be Babe Ruth for that price!

The cards indeed looks cheap and unspectacular compared with other baseball series from Topps and $27.000 for a box with these cards must be a very bad joke, seriously....

You can't really base how nice/ugly cards look from those types of images. I really don't know what Topps does but their preview images always look weird because they always make them come off as really cartoony and as shiny as possible.

So...I have a couple of other thoughts to throw in here.

#1) The cost per autograph ($519) isn't terrible considering who the checklist must be. You're not going to get Kent Tekulve and Jeff Burroughs autographs judging by how they're setting things up here. An average casebreaker that chases these types of cards (I'm going to use a guy like Steve/oasis who keeps a lot of what he busts) will technically have a better dollar for dollar return hitting 52 stars and Hall of Famers rather than busting a $1500 case and lucking out to pull one of these cards with a bunch of filler.

2) I'm glad they limited this to only 65 boxes. To go any farther quite frankly is bordering on insanity. This is a great number to stop on and I'm sure it will sell out from a mixture of rich looky loos and group breakers.

3) I know some people are going to say that this is a product geared toward group breakers. Maybe but group breakers (if you're doing a hit break) will still be paying an average of $160 US per card. :whatthehell:

4) At the end of the day, A $27,000 box of cards is still ridiculous
 
Absolutely insane. People can try to justify it, but $27K for pieces of cardboard? Asinine.
 
I'm sure Topps can find 65 suc...., errr i mean hardcore hobbyists to sell out this lot.

But man, those images do not offer vote of confidence for this release. I guess they'll look much better on video :corn:.
