86-87 Kraft question

Hi guys,

I was shopping through COMC and came across the Dale Hawerchuk that I need to finish my team set (little happy dance).

However, there were two different stock versions

one was the white-back i think we're all most familiar with and the other is the more 'cardboard' back

I have Glenn Anderson cardboard back but didn't think much of it until now.

So here are my questions:

1> Does anyone remember there being different distribution between the whitebacks and cardboard backs?

2> Do you consider the two to be part of different 'sets', i.e. one is a parallel of the other, or do you accept there are just different stocks?

It really had nothing to do with distribution.The cardboard version is from the boxes themselves.While the others are what you may consider factory produced cards. With so many proof of purchases,Kraft would send you perfectly cut cards.Some were even individually wrapped in a plastic packet.The factory ones are on a very thin stock while the box version are really very thick.You may say they are similar to what material the Kraft Dinner box itself was made of.The ones from the boxes are much more difficult to locate and carry a premium.There are also two versions of those.Some have black writing on the backs while others have blue writing on them.I have been working on a set from the boxes for over 10 years now.And still need about 20 or so.I hope this helps you a bit.I would not consider one a parallel of the other.Just how Kraft released them.Thanks,Winston.
