First, apologies if this has been discussed. I searched the hockey forums and found nothing in first 3 pages of results.

Second, these were the holy grails back in 96... 1:300 packs or so, last 5 years the market has been flooded with these mirror golds. Does anyone know what is the story on this? Other than pinnacle printed a bunch of these back then (any idea how many copies), is it possible that someone is counterfeiting these cards and so on (if so, how do i identify them)?

Thanks!

btw, here is a picture

If I recall that year was not serial numbered, so anything is possible. The bankruptcy of both Pinnacle and Pacific created so many issues with leaked cards that never should have seen the light of day.

Didn't Dave and Adams card world get all of their backstock on the mirrors? Thought they were the ones putting them all on ebay but I could be wrong.

It's been a bit longer than 5 years since the market was flooded with these - I'd even say it's been near a decade - I'll have to check some paperwork on exactly when the market became flooded but I did a set of 97-98 thanks to the flooding.

What has been mentioned is correct, for the most part Dave and Adams did pick up most (if not all) of the backstock and had sold if of through their Beckett store or via eBay over the last (I want to say) decade.

I belive that much of the Pacific backstock went to Fairfield who sold much of it in those $100 BV for $10 (can't recall specifics) packs etc. that were the rage 2-3 years ago.

I watched D&A put up at least 50 of the Lemieux Mirror Gold's back when I was collecting, this was in a 2 year span in I'm going to say 2004-2006. They went from $500-$1000 cards to $30-$50. Kind of a BS move but because they weren't numbered, nothing stopped it.
