I know this is a bit of a long shot here but I guess there is always hope. On Sunday at the expo I had the opportunity to be at the ITG booth when two young guys came with their mom to rip some enforcers....pulling the Boogaard tough patch which is sick. Long story short they were pretty amped up after finding out what it was and went off on a tear thru the expo. The mother had to grab cash from the ATM and the boxes accidentally were left atop of the ATM in the boys excitement (Minus the Tough Patch) and when they returned they were gone. Now aside from losing out on wonderful product it was the one kids birthday which makes the situation that much worse. I am on here hoping that maybe one of our members or someone that we might know has maybe picked them up, I know its a huge long shot but when i was informed about what was going on I could see that the boys have been gutted by what had happened.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

Cheers, Patrick

OMG thats horrible. I remember they came buy Breakaway (602) to show of the cards to Ben and myself. They looked super excited to get those cards. I feel for those boys. I hope that they get them back.

A little bump here with some good luck thrown in the mix - hopefully a nice kind soul picked them up and is trying to find the owners.

Good luck in the search!

In the spirit of Christmas, and the great HI community we have, wouldn't it be a great idea to do an Op, and maybe collect enough to purchase a sealed box, or two to send to them? If enough guys chipped in $5 each, or whatever amount, it could easily be done fast, and inexpensively for us members, and maybe it would put a smile back on their young faces? Perhaps, we could find one of our LCS members to give us a break on price considering the circumstances?

For those of you who have never heard the word Op before, it stands for operation, as in secret operation. We use to do these all the time on the Mcfarlane message board (using sports figures of course most times) How it works is one reliable, and respectable member secretly collects funds donated by other members, and take the money, and buy a personal grail for a member who we'd all consider kind, and generous, and an asset to the board. You know the kind of guy who always helps out their fellow collectors, and puts them above themselves. The ones that give, and give, and give, and never ask for anything in return? There's no reason why we couldn't do one for these boys, and replace a box, or two of what they lost. I'm in if someone wants to get it rolling. I'd be more than happy to work with someone setting this up.

Who knows, maybe this would get us a couple more future great members?

The mother of the boys has left her information with the people at the show in hopes that someone may have turned them in and she will be calling the convention centre in the hopes that the cleaners may have picked them up and left them in the lost and found. I hope it turns out well for the boys but chances are that with the skullduggery that was taking place there over the weekend with the other thefts the boxes are long gone.

I'd be down for sending a donation, perhaps one of the MODS can take the bull by the horns and lead this great cause....I know that our HI family of collectors will be more then able to put funds together to help the kids out. Please pm me whoever will take the lead (I would but lack the credentials on here) I fully expect a pm by tomorrow, I will be disappointed if I don't get one.

I'm kind of surprised nobody else has responded, I mean it's only a few bucks each, and we can possibly make a difference in a couple of young collectors lives, and restore their faith in humanity. Even if we just send one box to them, they'll remember it forever, I know they will. I thought it would be nice to take a bad experience, and make it right?

As far as collecting funds goes, there are hundreds of good boardies on here I would totally trust to take in the cash. It may be wise to find a trustworthy member who has the product in stock, and send the funds directly to them to avoid any multiple paypal fees transferring back, and forth? If there's a mod willing to take in the donations, that would be even better.

Let's get this rolling. We have 2 ready to send funds, and I'm sure there will be many more. Perhaps we should have them either move this, or start a new thread for this?

If this is a bad idea please say so. I just thought it would be nice if our community helped out these young kids who had their expo fun sadly taken from them?

Just to clarify! Did they lose everything, or did they have the Boogeyman patch in their possesion when this happened? If that patch was lost, whoever picked these cards up could post it for sale, then we can try to get it back, and their other cards?

this sucks, I remember losing base cards as a kid and it was liked losing gold!
looks like they got the patch Leafsfan... I would be in to send 5 dollar for the purchase of a box if others are in.

That's heartbreaking, I'll gladly donate for the cause. Dealing with a disappointing loss such as this is part of growing up, but so is learning what charity and giving are. Let's try to bring that smile back to the little collectors' faces!

The one young fellow (Squigs, gets it on all the autographs he gets) is a customer of mine, mostly for framing. He had the Boogaard patch, so they apparently lost everything else. I had taken them over to show Quincy, but he was gone already. I don't think they set them down at the HI booth (which is where we were), but I have no clue where they went. The other young lad's mom bought a card from us and was short a few bucks, so I told her to bring it by the store when she had a chance

I would be happy to headman this and acquire the boxes. Two of them with the taxes would run around $140 all in. I'll kick in $20 myself. Let me know if it's something you'd like to do and I can take the money (I have two boxes on hand) and we can post some pictures of the kids getting their surprise.

Thanks!

Wayne, that would be great if you could take this on, I will help any way I can, if you need it. This way once the funds are in for the boxes, you could surprise the boys with the boxes, and show them where they came from. Perhaps one of the mods can merge this into a new thread for us? is there any way we can get their phone number, so Wayne can call them when the time is right? Does the OP of this thread have their contact info?

Let's do this guys, and thanks for all the support.

I don't know if I can do money, but I'd be down to send some cards...GU/autos and such. Let me know if I can work that in.

That would be sweet. Maybe, send them a little package to open at The Ice Box when they are there? Others could do the same if money is not an option. Let's give these 2 kids a surprise they'll remember forever.

Put me down for $10 as well.

Rotten thing to happen to anyone especially young kids and getting close to Xmas.
