A developing situation on ebay...

Hey guys,
I haven't had this kinda thing happen to me before:


So I bought a card back in May 21, 2014 from comicconnection_ca on ebay:

Apparently the card goes "missing" in the mail. I think in the past 10 years, I had a card within Canada go missing 1 other time.

So the seller sends me a refund, fine, but I wanted the card.


Anyway, today I find this EXACT same card here:

Yes, I realize that the card is not really worth much, but I'm pissed off, rightfully so I feel. Anyway, I've contacted the current seller, who's in Europe to figure this out.


Anyone had a similar experience with the original seller? Anyone have similar experience overall?


Anyway, will keep you posted to see what happens here.

EDIT: Do I contact ebay about this? Or just contact the original seller of this card?

This is why I put "picture card" instead of "sports card" in the description box on the postal papers. There's definitely a few bad apples in the postal service that steal so I don't let them know what's inside.

This was within Canada, so no description was needed on the envelope.

I've dealt the the original seller quite a bit never have had any issues and he is very nice via the email conversations we have had.

Thanks for your message. I just want to clarify that I'm not blaming one person here, as I have no idea who to blame here. All I know is some kind of fishy business is going on here.... :comp:

Lu. I had a similar situation years ago. Won a BD Clarity card from a seller in Tonawanda. Three days later I get this message from him about having his luggage stolen at the airport and all his mailouts were in it. He refunded my payment no problem.

Two months later, the exact same card is up from a seller in East Amherst (about 10 minutes away).

Turned out okay for me though... won the card for 8 bucks less than the first time.

Seems silly to orchestrate a scam for a card that's worth $10 bones...max! But I agree with you Frank, that does seem to make the most sense....

Price doesn't matter. A scam is a scam. Send a message to the new seller and to the original seller as well. If you don't get the answers you are looking for, contact eBay

Thanks for the advise Frank. I contacted both sellers. Awaiting the response.
I'll keep you all posted. If I don't hear from then In 48hrs, I'll contact ebay.

That's ridiculous Randy. At least you got the card for cheaper. The starting bid here is more than I paid...plus shipping. So no luck on that front. I'm curious how this will play out.

Not sure about the circumstances with how it went missing. Did the seller contact you and say it went missing? Or did you contact the seller and told them the card hadn't arrived yet?

I see a couple of possibilities. One, somehow Canadapost royally screwed up and shipped your package to the Czech Republic.

Or, the seller accidentally shipped the card to the wrong person, and didn't want the hassle of tracking it down (might not have known who it got sent to) and just refunded the card.

What happened was the card never arrived. And after 4 weeks or so, I contacted the seller saying it never came.

I would guess this happened. It got shipped to the wrong person - the original seller may or may not have known this happened.

I was going to mention this as well Lu because I know that I have accidentally done this one two occasions over the course of the last 15 years - thankfully one the other parties were fantastic and took care of it themselves and in the other I just went for a refund to one party as I had no idea where the other side went.

Who knows what happened to this particular card but it is possible that it ended up in someone else's bubbler.

Indeed. I once received a card I did not purchase (a baseball card) in the mail. "From" address was difficult to read, so I couldn't do anything about it.

Also mailed a card to Canada that - according to the buyer - had a postal mark from Sweden on it. Must have somehow gotten to Sweden with other packages I was mailing there.

Not sure how anybody could look at this as a scam? Regardless of how the new seller ended up with the card (which was likely the result of a shipping or packing error on the original sellers part....the guy has more than twice as much feedback in the last month than I have had total in 13 years of buying and selling on eBay.....I'm sure that's difficult to keep track of at the best of times) , Lu is not out any money whatsoever, so there is no "scamming" involved. He bought the card, did not receive the card, and in turn received a full refund. End of story. That's does not qualify as a scam to me.

Although the card is 1/10, but given the player, I highly doubt that the seller was looking to scam and wanted to squeeze a few bucks extra out of that particular card. The seller sells so many cards, I highly doubt that they are too concerned at what the selling price of most non-superstar cards go for. At the end of the day, they probably just look at their bottom line.

Also, with that particular seller, I have noticed that their cards go for more because there are a lot of people who check out their huge number of auctions, so most likely people will bid on others to combine shipping, which drives up the price.
