I was in Maple Leaf Sports here in Calgary the other night, busting some Beehive as I do every year at this time. Working towards the yearly master set, which keeps me continually busy for years down the road.
Well, 4 boxes didn't give me much in the way of excitement, maybe a few I needed, but nothing of great note.
So, after I finished, I asked the owner, Darren (Clark 17), what I should crack next. I think I asked him whether or not I should open a box of Hot Prospects or Between the Pipes... which would I enjoy most and give me the least chance of buyer's remorse.
Darren pointed to a box of BTP and suggested it since I'd already opened a box and was working towards the set.
Plastic comes off and the first pack yielded this...
Darren tells me that the first row seems to pay off in most of the boxes he's seen.
A few packs later gives me a Dan Cloutier Mask card - while playing for the Kings. I didn't know he ever played for them. The things you learn from reading the backs of hockey cards...
About 2/3 of the way through, a nice, stiff pack contains...
1/10 !!!!!
I figured I hit my box odds (I got my Forgotten Franchises insert as well), and was ready to finish off the last 2 packs with base cards...
Out pops this SP

Pretty happy, to say the least.
All cards NFT... they're already spoken for.
However, I do have these from another box which I can part with...
