One of my all-time favourite cards is the 1973-74 O-Pee-Chee (and Topps) Phil Roberto. Why? Because it is one of the few regular issue hockey cards to feature a fight and it's got an amazing photo.

In doing some research for my next book, I found a boxscore for the March 10, 1973 game between the Blues and Islanders. At 4:34 of the first period, both players received major penalties and as a result, I was able to determine the moment Lewis Portnoy (if you are familiar with vintage hockey photographers, you can instantly identify his work) took the photo. How cool is that?
I know a lot of baseball bloggers have done this with baseball cards, but it's not too often you see a hockey match without it being a significant moment like a Stanley Cup win.
By the way, the Blues won that night by a score of 5-4. Roberto scored two goals in the second period.
