NEW PIECE ALERT!

We love getting new items in our museum, whether it be from a private collector, an auction, or a team sale. By far our favorite way to add a new item to the museum is through a trade or direct deal with the athlete who used the item, as is the case with our newest “Piece of History” at Heroes of the Crease: Goaltending Museum and Memorabilia Ltd.

What you are looking at right now is a Bauer blocker and Vaughn glove set that was used by Brandon Halverson in the 2024-25 season with the Syracuse Crunch as well as in his first recall with the Tampa Bay Lightning in February 2025. They exhibit excellent wear including puck marks and sports drink stains. These items were acquired directly from Halverson in a trade. The collage photo depicts an identical glove and blocker set from the season, but not this exact pair. The photomatches of these can be found in the Getty links near the bottom.

Born on March 29, 1996 in Traverse City, Michigan, Brandon Halverson was a standout prospect with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds when he was drafted 59th overall by the New York Rangers in 2014. He followed up his draft year with an excellent season in 2014-15, seeing him win 40 games in only 50 appearances in the WHL, and also representing Team USA at the IIHF World Juniors. In 2015-16, he once again represented the USA at the World Juniors, this time helping the Americans take home the Bronze Medal. Turning pro in 2016-17, Halverson's pro career continued until 2021-22, then resumed in 2022-23 and continues to the present day. His career has thus far seen him play in Germany, the ECHL, AHL, and the NHL. He made his NHL debut for the Rangers on February 17, 2018 vs the Ottawa Senators. Relieving Henrik Lundqvist in goal for the final 12:33, he stopped 5 of 6 shots that he faced in the Rangers' 6-3 defeat. For many goalies, the path he took thereafter would have made the NHL a height he would never reach again. However, his hard work and tenacity grinding through the ECHL, taking a season off due to injury, playing German Second League, and eventually getting in with the Syracuse Crunch led to a career resurgence which led to an NHL comeback with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2024-25.

Among his career accolades include leading the OHL in shutouts (2015), winning an IIHF World Junior Championships Bronze Medal with Team USA (2016), playing in the AHL All-Star Game (2025), and winning the Harry “Hap” Holmes Award (2025).

As his career is ongoing and more games in the NHL are not out of the question, his career stats will not be posted at this time.

Acquired from: Brandon Halverson and the Tampa Bay Lightning organization.
