A Positive eBay communication story

Hey all,

Here is a feel good story to share. We have plenty of bad ones but this was worth sharing.

So a customer paid for each item individually from my eBay store. I noticed and emailed him right away.



Here is the conversation:

It's the way to do things. I'm not here to screw anyone over, and I expect the same from them. Your little story is the way it should be. Thanks for sharing Ameet.

Years and years ago, I had a guy refund my money because he had 'lost' the card. The skeptic in me chalked it up to seller remorse.

Two days later, it shows up in the mail. Sent him a not telling him that he had already mailed it, and that's why he couldn't find it, and that I would send him money in the mail (this was before I trusted PayPal).

He was very thankful, and when he got the money, wrote to me again to say so.

Last year, I bought a card from an HI member who gave me an incorrect PayPal address. Got the card, then 4 days later got a refund from PayPal. Wrote back to him and said 'Can I get your CORRECT PayPal address?' to give him his money.

Ya it made my day. You have to be up front and honest. It is the best way to be. Plus I am a collector first. I feel you should always treat people with respect. You won't believe how good it feels to get notes like this.

I had a similar thing recently, so I'll toot my horn as well.

Guy bought a card from me for a couple hundred bones on a Saturday, paid $10.50 for USPS Priority mail with insurance, and I promised card would ship on that Monday.

I had something come up and failed to make the Monday promise and it went out Tuesday. I refunded him approximately 75% of the shipping, $7.

He sent me a note and asked if we could deal off eBay on some other cards I had to mitigate fees against my account.

Such a simple gesture and equally simple response from the buyer....but boy is it ever refreshing to read a story like this. You hit the nail right on the head...treat people the way you'd like to be treated.
