Howdy gang!

The maildays have slowed way down over the past couple weeks, but that's cool, as I suppose I could use a little break after a busy hobby season. :dizzy: And honestly, after the package that I received yesterday, I would be perfectly content if it were the last package that I received until the 09/10 season fired up ...well, ok, who am I kidding, lol?!:p

So here we go...

The 3rd Star came in last week from a great new trader here on HI...Justin (aka not2quick). Now you wouldn't think that these would be all that tough to find, but for whatever reason, this was only the 2nd opportunity that I had ever had to trade for one since I started trading online 3 years ago! Thanks again for the trade, Justin! :)...

Now, speaking of tough...I would suspect that there are more than a few of you set/project collectors out there who have at some point found yourselves contemplating the idea of throwing away months/years of progress on a set or project because of one or two seemingly impossible-to-find pieces of the puzzle. :foottap: Well, while I'm not traditionally a set/project sort of collector, there is one particular project that I've been working on since 2006 that has taken me for quite a ride on the ol' emotional rollercoaster over the years...the running Red Wings-only Sign of the Times autograph "master" set.

I could probably write a novel chronicling my adventures throughout this project, from the highs of finding an 06/07 Lids/Holmer/Zetty freebie in my mailbox from an awesome friend in the hobby ...to the lows of being sniped by a flippin' nickel on what is still the one-and-only 98/99 Holmer Gold that I've ever seen! :| But above all else, the one aspect of set/project building that can be both the most gut-wrenching, yet most satisfying is the good ol' chase and eventual capture of those (for lack of better term) WHALES, which once captured, have a way of revitalizing your motivation to continue with the project!!

So without further adieu, here is Star #2 ...

And how the heck am I gonna top the capture my #3 all-time most wanted Wings SOTT?...

How about my #2 all-time most wanted Wings SOTT for the 1st Star spotlight!! :D...

I can't thank Jason (jaywings19) enough for making those two Yzie's available from his personal collection...it is very much appreciated!

That's all for now, folks...thanks for stoppin' in!

Have a good day,
Joshua

EDIT: Although the project is still ongoing, the 99/00 Yzie gold finally polished off the 99/00's, so since there are only 6 total (3 regulars, 3 golds), I thought I would post 'em up!...

Couple of nice project pickups there. On side note what are doing posting so early in the morning :)

Thanks, J!

Lol, I could ask you the same thing...I've noticed that you've been logged on pretty late/early these past few days! :dizzy::D This is actually the equivalent to around 7-8pm at night for me right now...I'm a night-shift worker (11p-7a EST), and I happen to be in an "office-type" environment (with a very generous boss I might add ), so we're able to kick around online when nights are slow. This hasn't been one of those nights however...I started typing this mail thread at around 3:00, and didn't get it posted til 5:30, lol!!:foottap:

Hey i guess i should use an alias so i can lurk without detection. You must have been busy to start typing at 3:00 and not post until 5:30.One thing i like about Firefox for a web browser is i can have lots of tabs open at once and surf between many sites at once , so you may see me here but i am lurking in many places.Yes my hours are strange lately , i don't go back to work overseas till later in the month so there is nothing stopping me from keeping off hours.Maybe i am just getting used to the 15 1/2 hour time difference to where i am headed. You have a good remainder of your shift.Cheers Joel

:D:eek::D Is there a jealousy button here I can use, lol. Those are great! Lots of great Stevie autos I've seen today. Nice day for it. Thanks for sharing.

Joshua, I can't believe you knocked those both out in one shot. Unreal. One of these days, you are gonna need to show off the completed SOTT Project. Mike

Joshua......
Now I know what you meant when you said I'm going to have to pass on a few autions on ebay!! Very nice pick-ups if I do say so myself!!! I'm waiting for the Tambellini to come in so I can see if you're interested in it as well. I'm actually waiting for about 8 cards (upgrades on the sets) so I can't wait to show you those when they finally arrive.

Talk to you later....

Thanks for the posts, gang! :)

Joel-I couldn't agree more...Firefox rocks!

Greg-Good to hear from you! How's your Yzie collection coming along these days?

Trev-That was quite a mailday that you made for Jay!! :dizzy::dizzy: I haven't forgotten about ya on that dual.

Jeff-Thanks buddy! There's nothing quite like a clean hard-signed Yzie auto!

Mike-I have lines on most of the ones that I still need, but there are still 3 phantom cards that will likely haunt me for some time yet. :dead: Hopefully by the time I secure those, I'll still remember how to post scans, lol! In the meantime though, I should re-scan those that I have to a uniform size and put them into one of those set map thingies.

Richard-Thanks! I wish that there were more Probie SOTT issues, but I suppose I should be careful what I wish for, lol...I don't need another SP like the Throwbacks to chase for the rest of my life...:dead::rolleyes:

Dean-Yeah, I've had to pass on a few doozies on the 'bay lately...I did break down and go after a Sawchuk that I had been hunting forever, but lost out in the final seconds, so serves me right, I suppose. Looking forward to seeing your upgrades!

Cole-Wow...Cole's speechless?! :D:laugh:

Thanks for the posts, gang! :)

:wings:LET'S GO WINGS!!:wings:

Hi Joshua,

Actually, I have been able to find some really nice and harder to find additions to the wantlist over the past couple of months. Got one piece incoming that I was thrilled to land and a couple others that I scanned and will hopefully remember to put in my next mail call! Still slowly plugging away.

Thanks guys.

Greg-Sounds good...I'll be looking forward to the show! :) And on a side note...every time I see one of those 01/02 Gordie/Yzie duals (as in your sig), I become more and more inclined to buy one, remove the Gordie section and foil stamping, do a little creative Photoshopping, and create my own darn 01/02 Yzie!! :foottap:

Joshua - I'm glad you got the cards safely. Very happy that they put a large dent in your rather impressive project.

In regards to this comment. . .

First, I would go with the Yzerman/Allison dual... it's cheaper! :D

Second, let's get 2 copies, so you can create an 01/02 SOTT single for me too!
