A question for you that have eBay stores

I was just wondering if someone has cards listed in their store,and they quote Beckett values and they all seem to be on average 20-25% higher than current listed price.Would it be out of place for me to say that their values are considerably higher.Now I understand in some cases that maybe the cards have droped down.But in the case I am refering to the cards are 40 years old so the idea that the values could have droped are not likely.I am sure that you peole that have stores deal with a lot of question.Also is it unreasonable to make offers even if the cards do not have a "or best offer "option.I guess the worst that could happen is for them to say no.Just don't want to offend anyone.PLMK what you think.Thanks,Winston.

I do think its out of place to say their values are higher. They are more than welcome to list the item above what they think it should sell for. I don't think it would hurt you to try talking to some of the sellers and offering what you feel would be a BO. Unless you're dealing with a complete tool most people won't be offended and it may even let them know that someone is interested in their cards.

I regularly email with my best offers and they have been accepted on many an occasion. I'm not sure what the consensus on this is, but I've never encountered any problems, other than the one or two guys not responding.

just for reference, I recently came across someone selling 3 of the epic signatures I needed for my set. he had them priced higher than BV, so I decided to e-mail him and see if he'd lower his prices if I bought all 3. he ended up agreeing to the deal with no problems.

I've also made other deals with people running stores on single cards, and for the most part, they seem to be very co-operative. I always seem to get a response whether they accept or not.

also, remember that being a holiday weekend, you may not get quick responses.

As an eBay store owner, I do list some stuff at what I feel the card is worth...ignoring Beckett values, etc. but I *always* respond to offers, and like Chris, sometimes you get that buyer that hits the BIN and that's awesome Offsets the deals you give most of the time

Yea it all depends on how long you plan on keeping the cards as a seller. If your not in a hurry to sell, why not. I will however tell you, that if you price them high enough, people are going to think different about it. It will make them think they are not going to waste their time if too high on best offer option.

I have no problem with them pricing cards higher than BV.Like if they are selling a Crosby auto that books at $300.00 and they want $350.00 for it.But it is that they are saying the BV is $125.00 and it is really only $70.00 and they are basing their pricing on the inflated BV they are using.Thanks to all those that have given me some insight into this.Thanks,Winston.

Sorry, I guess I didn't understand your op. If they are using inflated BV's and it's something that you want, I would probably tend to not say anything about it so you don't sour any possible BO they may accept. If it's not a card/cards you're looking at, most of the time I will send them a PM just to let them know their BV's are wrong or a bit off. I know I would want to know if my pricing/bv was off so I could adjust it to possibly make a sale.
