A Question on trading etiquette

Ok, so I have a few pending trades that I'm concerned about. I was wondering how to handle them.

1. The other member is also in the States and I received feedback two days after mailing. The trade was made over a month ago and I have yet to receive my end. It is not high end at all and I know the member is a wonderful trader. That being said, if it is lost in the mail... am I out of luck?

2. A member and I made two trades in the same week. Interestingly enough, both of us received the SECOND trade first. He received the first package shortly after and I have yet to receive mine. It was also a trade from mid November. This member is in Eastern Canada and I am in the States so I know that shipping can take forever sometimes, so should I just sit tight?

I know both members are great and I know they sent their end so that is not the issue... but I'm just looking for some feedback! Thanks for anyone patient enough to read and respond!

I'm waiting on some packages from eastern Canada. I'm seriously rethinking about dealing with people from the Maritimes. No offense to the traders/buyers from that part of the world, but it just seems that shipping there takes forever and is way too unpredictable.

For example, I'm shopping eBay for a Doughty Trilogy RC. There were a handful listed at the same time and I decided against bidding on the cheaper one because the seller was in Nova Scotia (other 2 were in Ontario).

I don't know what it is, but as far as I can tell, the common denominator is Canada Post. From my experience with CP in BC and QC, I can tell you that USPS is 10x faster and more reliable. I've sold to people in NFLD and the card arrived in about 7-10 days. I've had cards take almost 30 days to arrive from the same location.

I don't know anymore. I find I don't have as much problems dealing with people in the rest of Canada or the US.

As long as the person you're dealing with is reputable and he says the cards were shipped, I'd hang tight. 3 weeks isn't uncommon. It's frustrating because a card from Maine to California can arrive in 2days sometimes via USPS, but a card from Vancouver to Cali can take 2 weeks even though it's about a 3rd the ditance

I'm also waiting on deals from the beginning of December. I pretty much chalked it up to the Canada Post, as they are both deals with members from across the border.
 
with the backlog of mail from Christmas...
and all the flights that get cancelled from bad weather in vairous places...

I'd sit tight.
 
if you know both members are reputable, i wouldn't worry as much. the trade from the US to US is troubling though as it usually only takes 3-5 days max even through xmas.
 
I'd wait as well... we were waiting on something from Ontario from December 4th, and it arrived 2 days ago. Probably just backlogged with weather and such.

If it's been a month intraUS I'd just see if the other party has something else they can send to replace. Although a lot of people claim "lost in the mail isn't my fault" the fact is you made a deal realizing that the PO is the only way to make it happen, and thus both parties should receive goods.

Even taking Eastern Canada into consideration I've never had an item take more than 3 1/2 weeks to reach anywhere in my 12 years of trading. I'd say after 45 days ask for something to replace.

Sadly, the most common reason I've found for missing packages is poor addressing habits - sloppy handwriting, incorrect or incomplete address, poor packaging.
Only a couple of instances have I seen delivered to the wrong address, and with those packages eventually they found their way to the right location after the person who received then in error dropped them off. So I guess there is always that, but in my experience it's rare.

Hey the package from Minnesota to California actually came TWO DAYS AGO! It was postmarked on December 10th just like agreed upon! Crazy how it took so long!

Still waiting on the one from Quebec though...
