A "Unique" UD Error spotted.

Hey all!

Just figured I'd post this as I found it fairly amusing when it was stumbled upon this morning.

I was at the Truro flea market earlier today and while looking around I had one of the dealers pass me a card and said "take a look at this." This is the card he passed me (sorry for the crappy phone picture but it's all I had).

Without looking at the player pictured I said "cool Malkin auto." He then informed me that it was a Jordan Staal card. We had a little chuckle over it but what struck us was that with a high end product that Black is and with how unique autos that both players have, how could this slip by quality control?

Just to compare the card, here is an auction on eBay with the correct auto inserted. I tried to swing a deal for the card but to no avail.

I thought it was a bit weird and worth a laugh.

These auto errors are happening all too often in UD products. Backwards, upside down, or wrong autos all together. Terrible quality control at UD.

that is indeed Malkin's sig... but here is my question, it's hard signed... why would Malkin sign the card when you can clearly see it says Jordan Staal and has Staal's picture?

He probably doesnt even look at them. Imagine having to sign 1000 cards or so. I would just sign whatevers in front of me I probably wouldnt take the time to read it. The sad part is that how many mistakes were made on this card and it STILL slipped through.

1 they sent malkin the staal card
2 malkin signed it
3 they didnt notice when he returned it
4 they put it in the packout

and no one noticed during any of those steps

It IS possible that Malkin packed it out himself, cutting out two of those errors right away.......

anyone remember the dual obsidan auto that had a screwed up signing in 08-09? I can't remember if both were signed by the same player maybe??

I have an Ultimate Collection RC auto patch with the serial stamping in the wrong spot on the card. Thought it was kinda amusing...

Well, at least it's signed by someone good and not at all (referring to the Staal/Malkin card)..

I bet they pass them around in the dressing room signing for each other and have a good laugh that we're willing to pay the prices we do for this stuff...lol
