So I haven't really been adding much of late and didn't expect to have a mail call for a very, very long time as we have a wedding to plan later in the year. Unfortunately, my future mother-in-law, who has been battling stage four breast cancer since my fiancee and I began dating, has taken a turn for the worse. The last few days, we've been dealing with the growing realization that she will be leaving us sooner than we'd hoped and that, on top of that, we're likely going to have to move the wedding up and scramble to get things in place.

My fiancee, the wonderful woman she is, wanted to thank me for being there for her throughout this by giving me what was to be part of my wedding gift. She consulted with my very good friend, HI's own Quincy, and came up with a gift that I've had on my wantlist for an eternity. I love the gift and it's made even more amazing coming from my future wife. Enough blathering; here's my new shiny:

We're hoping for a little good news tomorrow in regards to her mom and we'll begin with the frantic wedding planning, so it's nice to be able to stop in here one more time and share something so special.

Nice pickup man, I know how it is dealing with that situation. My girlfriend just lost her mother, she battled brain cancer for 12 years, been a rough couple weeks but always good to have each other to get through it. Stay strong.

stay strong, lost 2 family members to cancer so i can relate. family is amazing

congrats on the wedding and beauty of a gift

Sorry to hear about your ma-in-law, Ryan. I lost a lot of family members to cancer and it's never easy to watch or even know that they're suffering.

At least you have some cool shiny loot from a wonderful gal and a card you'll cherish (much like her.)

Sorry to hear that, man. My wife lost her dad a mere four months before our wedding. It was horrible that he couldn't be there and was sudden enough that we couldn't change our plans. Good on you all for doing that for her...hugs and prayers to you all.

Sorry to hear about you and everyone posting who has loved ones with breast cancer.....my friends cancer came back and she was told it was terminal...prayers go out to all of you

Stay strong during this trying time. The reason Peter Forsberg is my PC is that not only was he magic on ice...he hit, battled, and played hard every shift of every game. A good recipe for life.

Can't thank everyone enough for the well-wishes. A little update: the tumors have shrunk significantly so while they likely won't ever go away, it's giving her time and she's now insisting we keep the wedding in November. The toughness and selflessness of this woman never ceases to amaze me.
