Back to the pricing...this is the first Howe auto (like the one in my sig) that I've seen listed on the 'bay...

Howe auto SP

Almost double "Beckett" list price. Hmmmm. And not bad for a three-day auction. And notice the third highest bidder? If he don't got this one yet, they they ain't out there. Period.

Now if Beckett hasn't seen one sold yet does the $100 in the guide then serve as a "suggested" price??? The pricing that Clint provided this guide for the SP autos is nothing more than a BIG FAT RIDICULOUS GUESS.

Beckett didnt find out who the SP's were until after the bok was published. Look for a substantial bump upward, especially when/if UD releases the numbers.

But the OPG listed them as SPs, even though the BVs don't seem to reflect it. I don't know how the OPG updating works, but if you get the chance, pick up as many as you can at BV.

I think Al may have put those notations after the announcement.

Before you guys start piling on Al and Clint, remember the magazine goes to press 2 weeks before the issue date. So that would make it about January 10th when it went to press, and the announcement wasn't made until the 19th. So if you're going to bust some chops, make sure it's deserved

Art -- before you go being Superman and defending Al and Clint, make sure you understand my rant. The Howe I saw sold was the only one I've seen besides mine. One of the bidders (third from top) on the auction I referenced is RXDELOOF. If you want to see how serious he is about Howe items check his bid history. If this card was readily available he would have it by now. This card is severely shortprinted. I'm questioning the fact that Clint has had enough confirmed sales to place a value on it. I would have rather he had left it with no price then guess on a price of $100.

Along the same lines, I was going to list my Kurri gold parallel #/25 on ebay because I had seen 4-5 sold ranging from $55-$75 US. Crazy prices due to the limited print run, limited product, and the number of Kurri collectors out there. And it guides at $20. OK, OK, so Clint only had a few days to put together pricing, that's understood. But if he didn't have time to base the pricing on a significant number of actual sales, then what is it based on? It's based on a BIG FAT GUESS. And that's my point.

I agree with Ferris 100% on this, I have always said and called out Clint on the Beckett boards to show us some proof of the sales but yet all he tells us is that the sales are documented in his office and I have no right to question that. I believe that is somewhat true but not 100% accurate. Just look at some of the prices on ebay for some of the things sold. I mean how much more of a market value do you want than ebay? Does he do this solely off shows in the US? When the main hockey market is NY, Det, PA, and all of Canada? Isn't Beckett based in Texas? Well I understand they have a need to drive this market and keep things together and how better than to overstate prices on items. I mean really Premier patches sell for about 75% of what they book for so if the prices on them were 75% and they dropped the prices to reflect the TRUE market values the card would sell for 50% of what it currently books for. That's just the market to be overstated because RARELY does a card sell for book or more! Anyhow i'm with Ferris here in saying that Beckett can't possibly have enough info on these.
